This week is already in full-swing holiday crazy-ness mode! Last night, I was out from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. I went for drinks and shopping with a girlfriend after work and it was super fun, but just an intense long day. The rest of the week is going to follow suit until Thanksgiving day. I’m going to Bible study tonight and then Wednesday is going to be a bake-a-thon!
I’m making a pumpkin cheesecake that I make every year for Thanksgiving and some autumn cheddar shortbread crackers for an appetizer for turkey day. It should be fun, but is a lot to get done in one night!
Over the weekend, the hubs and I did most of our Christmas shopping for our family. We are traveling earlier than usual this year, so I need stuff done in 2 weeks and wanted to get on it. While we were shopping, I picked up a few essentials for me.
It’s amazing how some nail polish and face wash can make me feel so refreshed. Before my job, I used to pick up little things like this all the time. But now I’m finding that I forget. So when I get something as basic as face wash, it’s like a nice treat.
I was also really starting to see the need for make up remover wipes. I need them because one, I am lazy at night now, and two, it’s really gross to wear make up for an afternoon workout or run.
I don’t blog about food all the time, but when something is that good, it just has to make the blog. Behold this buttered herbed tilapia.
We had this last week sometime and I just never got time to properly address this meals awesomeness on the blog. The hubs basically buttered the tilapia, put a ton of herbs on it, mostly basil based, and we baked it. So simple but it was like delicious beyond belief. And I am not a fish person…
Something I’m really appreciating lately is having a good lunch to look forward to at work. Last night after I got home, I packed myself lunch: ham & cheese on a good roll, carrots, apples, and peanut butter (not pictured) for dipping.
Once I get my lunch packed, it signals me to slow down because I at least have one thing prepped for the next day. I’m finding that I appreciate little things like this so much more lately because I have so much less time to prep in advance at all. Whether it’s lunch, coffee, or my outfit, I am just grateful to have one less thing to do in the morning 🙂
Winter Running Abs Circuit
One thing that I don’t have a lot of time for lately is running. I’ve been running inside a little here and there, but since I’m not used to treadmill running it’s pretty hard to get myself to do it. Pretty much the only way I can do more the 2 miles on the treadmill is to break it up into chunks.
I did this workout last week and felt so great after it. My mentally breaking up 3 miles into 1 mile chunks, it went by so much faster than just 3 straight miles.
Note: ankle grabs are done by laying flat on your back with your knees bent, feet on the ground. Reach with your hand to the inside of your ankle, contracting your obliques. Switch from side to side for one rep and repeat.
It definitely feels good to get some running done, even inside. Hopefully I can start getting used to the miles without having to break it up so much!
