Happy hump day!
I haven’t played along with WIAW in a while, so I thought I’d share what’s been goin’ on in the kitchen.
I recently subscribed to Allrecipes magazine (as well as Parents Magazine – only $6 for both!). I’m absolutely loving getting Allrecipes. Since Claire was born, I have been in a huge food rut. I subscribed to the magazine in hopes of inspiring me to try new recipes and to eat a little more healthy. It has totally worked!
I know the internet provides all the same recipes that the magazine does, but there’s something so much better about having a magazine delivered to my door where I don’t have to look online for recipes. I get really overwhelmed when I look online for recipes or try to use Pinterest as food inspiration. This is just working so much better!
This was without a doubt the easiest soup I have ever made. I sometimes roll my eyes at making soup from scratch but this will certainly be made again.
I did overcook my pasta a little, though. As you can see the stars have already lost their shape. As I reheated the leftovers, the pasta only got soggier. Next time I will be more careful about that.
I have actually never made shortbread cookies somehow? I for some reason thought they would be hard. These were also so easy. Basically butter, flour, sugar, and vanilla!
I dipped some in dark chocolate. I’m planning on making more of these with cookie cutters for Christmas gifts 🙂
Another soup! I was in a soupy kind of mood the past couple of weeks since it was actually chilly in Texas. This soup was very good to me, but didn’t impress my husband as much.
It was a little fatty because it’s hard to drain the fat of the sausage out, even though I patted it dry. As the soup keeps cooking and heating, the fat keeps releasing so you really can’t win on that one.
Meat and pasta in soup is kind of my favorite thing right now though. I’d make this again for sure.
Holy moley, was this fantastic! You have to make this dish ahead of time, but it was very easy to put together and totally worth it.
The bottom is coated with butter and sugar that forms a yummy glaze when baked. I did not need any syrup with this. Just topped with some fruit and it was plenty sweet.
I’m thinking this would be nice for Christmas morning to just pop in the oven!
This was spicy, flavorful and delicious!
The blackened chicken was much spicier than I thought it would be but it was great. The cream sauce really balances it out and is actually really healthy.
This recipe also came with a side dish recipe for quinoa. I’m not a big fan, so I switched it out for brown rice and it was also delicious. Paired with some garlic roasted green beans, this meal was a treat.
I feel like making some new-to-me recipes has helped me get my mojo back in the kitchen. I’ll definitely share any more gems I get out of my Allrecipes experience.
Also, did you know that the Allrecipes website was totally redone to be similar to Pinterest? I’m really loving it. It’s like Pinterest but just for food, so you can’t get distracted. 😉 You can find me and all the recipes I’m making here.
