Hey, friends! Long time, no blog! I went on a trip and took the week off from the blog. Let’s catch up!
We went to our friend’s wedding in North Carolina. We could have driven, but we would have had to rent a car and drive an hour from the airport anyway so we thought driving was easier.
I was really nervous about this trip since it is a ten hour car ride. It ended up taking us 12.5 hours with stops with Claire. She honestly did great until the last hour we were in the car. It was also extremely hot (98 degrees at one point) so keeping her cool was quite a challenge.
She survived her first trip and her first wedding though!
She was quite the center of attention at the wedding besides the bride.
It was our 3rd wedding anniversary on the 16th so on the way back, we hit up New York City as a present to ourselves. I was also very nervous about touring NYC with an infant, but we made it work pretty quickly. Claire actually sleeps great on the subway 😉
We spent the first morning in Brooklyn for breakfast & went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Then we to see the Statue of Liberty. We wanted to see it the first time we went to NYC but it was closed due to hurricane damage from 2009. They are actually still repairing the damage in some spots.
I was personally blown away by the statue and Ellis Island. You can spend and entire day just there seeing exhibits and going on tours.
It was awesome and I think every American should go!
The next day, we wanted to go to a museum but didn’t have time so we wandered around Central Park and got lunch in the area before heading home.
We ended the week by driving home to Boston, staying for a day to catch our bearings (barely) before heading off to New Hampshire to camp. I almost wasn’t going to go with my husband to camp and give him a little alone time as a Father’s Day treat but I’m really glad I went now.
I honestly feel crazy saying we took a 12 hour road trip, a trip to NYC, and camped with an infant all in the same week! But we made it work & Claire is doing great. I think all this travel is going to make her really adaptable! At least I can hope.
We had a ton of good eats on the trip too, in NYC specifically, so look out for some fun WIAW posts coming up.
