Hey guys! How was your Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving was a blast for us!
The day started pretty early for a local Turkey Trot with some friends.
It was actually super freezing for the race. I want to say it was about 20-something degrees and there were high winds, making it even colder. By the time the race started, I couldn’t feel my feet.
The race was not the greatest for me, as I started getting terrible stomach cramps about halfway through. But I gave it my all and I am definitely feeling it today! According to Nike+ I was running about a 9:15 minute mile, and my finishing time was 28:50. But I also didn’t stop Nike+ until a bit after finishing.
I actually can’t find my official results online anywhere, so I really don’t know what my time was. Either way, I am happy with that for it being freezing and me not really training at all!
After the race, we came back and rearranged our whole living room to accomodate the 8 other people who would soon be coming over.
I was pretty worried about how my one bedroom apartment would fit 10 people plus 4 dogs all at once, but it actually turned out great!
Before everyone came over, I remembered the quick craft I wanted to make for the table. I knew our table (two we barrowed from our church) wasn’t going to be anything fancy since they were just folding tables, so I wanted a little something to spruce things up.
I made these name tags with scrapbook paper, twine, and a sharpie.
That’s about as crafty as I get these days! But I thought they were really cute.
Friends started arriving at one and kept trickling in until 4. Before I knew it, it was time to eat dinner at 5. We set the table and rearranged some of the furniture again, and it was time to eat!
We did a potluck style dinner, and each of our friends brought about two dishes.
We were responsible for the turkey – or I should say my husband was because I didn’t touch the thing once! He did an amazing job for his first turkey.
After completely stuffing ourselves at dinner, we played some games, had dessert, and just hung out for the rest of the night.
I’m so thankful that even though my family is not close, I got to spend Thanksgiving with my other family this year: the best of friends.
Someone’s Turning 2
I can’t believe it, but Beans is 2 today!
Last night after a lot of horseplay with the other dogs, he curled up in my lap and slept for the whole night.
He didn’t get much of a “Thanksgiving dinner” yesterday, so I think we’re going to prep him a dog-friendly bowl of out leftovers as his “birthday cake.” So thankful for this fur baby!
Questions for You:
- Have you ever had “Friendsgiving” before?
- What are your plans for the day? I am not into the whole Black Friday thing really, so I am just staying in my pajamas all day hanging out!
