So, I totally
forgot didn’t have time to give an update on marathon training as of recently. And honestly, that’s because not a lot has been going on in the training department.
Since the move, training wasn’t exactly my biggest priority. I was honestly too tired most days last week to really eek out a good run most days anyway. Let’s start with the week before last.
Monday 10 – rest
Tuesday 11 – 3 miles & this legs circuit (felt a little too easy, oh well)
Wednesday 12 – 4 miles & some rowing. Felt great.
Thursday 13 – 3 miles & some random abs/arms strength
Friday 14 – rest
Saturday 15 – moving day, no long run like usual
Sunday 16 – debated going on a long run but had way too much to do and it snowed. Whatevs
This week felt like my first really solid week of training. Except that I didn’t get a long run in… I’m fine with that and basically planned on no long run due to moving, but it kind of disappointed me that I had such a good week only to not long run.
Last week was pretty chaotic since I was just exhausted. The fact that I even got workouts in and woke up early to go to the gym was good though. Both days I got to the gym early (Tue/Thur) I really didn’t want to go. I’m so thankful to have some gym buddies now though that hold me accountable.
Monday 17 – rest
Tuesday 18 – 3 miles, felt okay.
Wednesday 19 – skipped my workout from being so exhausted. Sleep > running sometimes.
Thursday 20 – 3 miles, felt crazy long and I was so tired. Almost didn’t show up to the gym this day, but was so glad I did afterward.
Friday 21 – rest
Saturday 22 – attempted a “long” run. Was confused about what mileage to do since I didn’t long run the weekend before. I didn’t want to push it, so I opted for my planned cut back of 10 miles. It didn’t happen due to this:
Ice. And lots of it. I tried a new trail near me and thought it would be okay. The weather was awesome for my run on Saturday. 45 and sunny. The trail was not, though. It took me and hour and 45 minutes to go 8 miles…….. Yeah.
I walked for probably a mile and a half of that, if not more. And the rest was really slow due to not wanting to slip. And more than half was done in totally water-logged shoes. Toward the end, I was purposely stepping in puddles just to have fun, because at that point the run was just kind of pointless. I think I got close to 9 miles in. Not that I ran much of it.
The good news is the it was outside. It was the first time I ran outside in 2 weeks. Amazing even if it was all icy. And I attempted it, so that’s good enough for me.
But I am getting kind of freaked out by this looming on my calendar…
But I know I can do it! Now that my home is organized and not a nightly project anymore, I should have energy back for another solid week of training.
And I finally ordered new running shoes, which should get here in the mail this week so I’ll have something to look forward to!
