Stella was two months old last Friday!
Two months isn’t really that long of a time, but I definitely feel like I can’t remember life without her. It’s been so normal to have another baby around, much more so than I thought.
Stella is very easy going and laid back, but month one to two was hard. I realized Stella has a dairy sensitivity/allergy. She was getting a rash on her face every time she nursed but then it would go away. She was also congested, especially after I ate something heavy in dairy. It just seemed to really upset her stomach.
She also has silent reflux. She doesn’t spit up ever, but was writhing in pain for hours and just barely spitting up but swallowing it again. The reflux could be linked to the dairy thing, but so far cutting dairy hasn’t helped with reflux any so I’m not sure.
We confirmed with our pediatrician at her appointment recently that I should steer clear from dairy. It’s been about three weeks now and it does seem to be helping. She’s been on a reflux meds for a few days and they help for the most part. Other than that, she is a happy girl though.
She weighs 11 pounds, putting her at about the 50th percentile for weight and height. Just yesterday I put her in a 3-6 month onesie of Claire’s that I’m pretty sure still fit Claire at 5 months old.
There’s no way Stella will fit into it for another month even at this rate. It’s crazy to have a baby that’s growing faster.
Stella can pretty much sleep anywhere and so far her sleep has been nothing short of magical, thank the Lord! Her typical night looks like feeding at 8-9 pm, sleeping until about 3 am, and then waking up at 6:30-7. Some nights she wakes up twice, maybe midnight and 4 am, which is still not bad.
She takes the Tommee Tippee pacis but only to calm her down. She doesn’t use them at night, which I hope to keep that way so I’m not becoming a binky-putter-backer any time soon.
She doesn’t love being swaddled but it does help calm her down if she’s really fussy or overtired. She loves to sleep with her hands above her head and if she gets out of a swaddle that’s usually how I find her.
She just started cooing and really seems to be able to see us now. She’s noticed Claire a lot more and will turn and look at her. I can’t wait for them to really start interacting.
I love my sweet little pineapple girl!
I feel so blessed that this newborn stage has been a lot easier, at least in terms of sleep, breastfeeding going better, and just generally not being as worried about keeping a small person alive.
I hope to touch more on how life with two is really going soon! 🙂
