Today’s been a busy but good day so far. The weather is so warm lately! It’s about 80 right now, which just doesn’t seem real to me. Can it really be that hot in May? It’s also been really humid the past two days too, so it feels even hotter. This makes me feel like summer is going to be pretty warm…
I’ve decided to start doing speed training for this half-marathon (I’ll post my full training schedule in another post soon). I’m doing this half with a girlfriend who used to do track in high school. She suggested we meet at a track today to start some speed work & I’m so glad we did!
But first – my matchy-matchy running outfit for today. Mint & magenta madness!
What can I say? Matching is just more fun 🙂
Anyway – our workout was great. We did 1 mile around the track for a warm up. Then we did a mile (or more, we kinda lost track) of 100 meter sprints with 300m recoveries. Considering I have never done speed work before, this was a good start for me.
The Hal Higdon plan I looked up suggested doing five 400 meters at your 5K pace. I think I would have died. So I’m glad we are easing into it. After that, we did some calisthenics that my friend learned from track as well. We did things like high skips, knee highs, & scissor runs across a field. We threw in some squats & lunge-y type stuff at the end before we stretched.
I’m hoping to get a workout like that in at least every other week if not every week. It felt good & I can totally see how that will improve my speed.
After my workout, I got a call from my apartment saying I’d gotten a package that I needed to pick up asap as it needed to be refrigerated. I knew exactly what it was, so I rushed down to get this…
Lots of Chobani Flip for me! Thanks, Chobani!
I asked Chobani if they would hook me up, and they were more than happy to. I knew what day I’d be getting the package, but I didn’t know if it would be flip or their regular yogurt. SO glad it’s flip!
If you guys haven’t noticed lately, I’m a little flip obsessed.
They sent me a few containers of 6 different flavors: key lime, coconut, raspberry, banana, strawberry, and vanilla. I’ve tried the lime, coconut, & raspberry before. I love all things vanilla though, so I just had to add that my lunch today.
The vanilla flip has frosted corn flakes (OMG) with praline walnuts in it. It was basically like dessert. Heaven!
What I really love about the whole flip line (besides everything) is that all the containers are around 200 calories or less. The portion size is perfect for part of breakfast or a snack. I also love that some flavors are healthy, like the blueberry power one, but some flavors are more like dessert.
The coconut flip with almonds & dark chocolate is still my favorite. Not going to lie, I’m probably going to eat that one later today. They’re just CHO dang good! 😉
I can also see flip being the perfect post-run snack. But honestly, I’d eat it any time.
Some of you have been asking me where I find flip, as it’s not widely available yet. I get mine at a Super Target near me. I’ve also heard that Shaw’s carries it in the North East as well. If your grocer doesn’t carry it yet, you can always make requests for them to order some.
This is a sponsored post. Chobani sent me a case of yogurt in exchange for this review. I am not being compensated in any other way. All opinions are, as always, my own.
