I have a fun review & giveaway for today. The people at Healtyh Skoop asked me a while back if I would be intersted in trying their B Strong vanilla protein powder for recovery. Being a runner looking for healthy recovery options and now a hungry pregnant mom-to-be, I was all for trying the product.
Skoop is a Colorado-based company with all natural superfood products. B Strong is made for recovery, building muscle, and absorbing the maximum amount of nutrients possible. B Strong is dairy, wheat, soy, gluten, and artificial anything free.
Unlike most protein powders, B-Strong also contains
- Prebiotics that promote a happy belly
- Amino acids such as essentials, non-essentials and BCAAs
- Antioxidants in beneficial mediterranean fruits
- ZERO gluten, dairy & soy
There are no mysterious fillers or “potion” like concoctions hidden within. It’s clean and all non-GMO. Plus a portion of all proceeds is donated to a national nonprofit that provides fresh produce and nutritional education to children in schools. It’s basically buy one, give one. It’s a great mission and we’re really wanting our customers to know what they’re investing in each and every time they buy a bag.
I will admit – I have tried many protien powders all natural or not and have been really disassisfied. They either had fake sugar and questionable ingredients or tasted awful.
I wanted to give Skoop a good go around and try it more than just a few times before posting this review. I can honestly say that I have been enjoying Skoop for weeks now and can’t get enough. My bag is half gone!
I mainly like to have Skoop post-workout or as a mid-morning or afternoon snack when my I-am-a-hungry-monster pregnancy hunger comes on badly at work. I simply mix the powder with 8 oz. of vanilla almond milk, shake in the awesome shaker bottle they gave me, and enjoy.
It is protein powder, so it’s a tad gritty, but not terribly. Overall, it’s very smooth to drink. I’ve tried it in smoothies, but just prefer the taste of fruit and not protein in my smoothie usually. I really just enjoy skoop by itself with milk.
It curbs my hunger so much. I am often finding myself hungry in the morning only an hour or 2 after breakfast. Since I eat breakfast so early, I think I just can’t wait that long to eat lunch. It’s been a good snack in the morning that isn’t a lot of calories but totally satisfies.
As for the recovery aspect, I can’t really comment on if it helps much as I pretty much stopped running as soon as I got the product. But for getting tons of nutrients easily and a boost of a snack throughout the day, Skoop is awesome.
I definitely feel really good about having Skoop while pregnant. There aren’t any ingredients that seem worrisome, and I love knowing I am getting proabably even better nutrients & absorbing them than my prenatal vitamin can provide.
