8 weeks from this past Wednesday I will be headed on a jet plane to Hawaii.
How long am I going for, you ask?
I dunno. About three years.
That’s right. We are moving to the island of Oahu.
In case you’re like, wait wuuuuuuuuut? Flash back to when I lived in Boston – we moved to Texas because my husband took a new job. We knew Texas would only be temporary for him to get some training before moving somewhere else. We didn’t know where we’d be moving to, but a possibility was that we would have the option to move overseas, which is really rare for what my husband specifically does, so we went for it. While we didn’t get what I consider “actual” overseas, like another country, Hawaii is a close second and I am certainly not complaining!
We found out unofficially that we were moving to Hawaii in December around Christmas. We told our family first. Since we went to Tennessee for Christmas to see my in-laws, we made a fun game for them and made them guess where we were going.
We had them open a gift bag with a pineapple, can of spam, and a little tiny swim suit for Claire. They immediately knew it was Hawaii, which my MIL has been dying to go to for years.
I announced it on Facebook using the photo above. I decided to wait to announce anything here until everything was 100% booked and in place. I even debated just not saying anything until I was actually already there because I’m a weirdo about privacy, but I really want to share my thoughts on moving there and the process with you guys.
We just got flight confirmations last week, so I thought it was time.
Since I have lived in cold weather states my whole life (Colorado and Massachusetts), I am in dire need of some tropical attire and accessories (hence my talking about needing sandals and shorts on yesterday’s post!). I have never been a beach person, but I guess that has to change now, huh?
I stocked up on some cute things from Target and Wal-mart recently for our new beach lifestyle ahead. I’m excited to share this new journey!
Questions for You:
- How would you feel about living somewhere without seasons? I think I’ll miss it, even though it will be nice year round.
- Do you know of any Hawaii bloggers? I don’t read any Hawaii blogs right now but would love to get connected to some people before I move there.
