This was a great, low-key weekend, which mostly surrounded my husband getting back from a long business trip. We welcomed him home on Saturday and couldn’t be happier.
Friday was spent mostly getting the house clean and trying to get ready for my husband to come home. Not that I feel like the house needs to be clean for him, but I knew I’d be less distracted and could just pay attention to having family time if there weren’t dishes all over. I painted my nails, did the laundry, and then babysat a for a friend Friday night.
Saturday felt like the longest morning ever to wait to go get him from the airport, but we made it almost five weeks apart, so what’s another few hours?!
The day before I had Claire make him a cute sign. This was actually our first time with finger paints and I was 100% surprised it didn’t end up a complete mess.
It actually never occurred to me that she might not hold the sign until we were at the airport, but she took right to it and seemed very proud to hold it up for daddy. LOVE! (and if you can’t read the sign, it says “Aloha Daddy.” My masking tape job was a little sub-par haha).
She found him and got very quiet and just laid her head on his chest for a good few minutes. It was so sweet!
I could tell she missed him. He also got her this cute Lambie, which I just realized is from Doc McStuffins which we don’t watch but maybe someday. She is obsessed with it and is has gone everywhere with her since she got it Saturday.
Sunday was low-key. We slept in (as much as we can with a toddler anyway), had a nice breakfast together, did some chores, and then got ready to go to a party for my running club.
I made sugar cookies and threw some meatballs with BBQ and grape jelly in a crock pot (sounds weird, but is always a hit).
They also had a cookie decorating station at the party, which Claire thought was the best. I love that she’s finally old enough to do some crafty stuff!
My husband has today off before going back to work. We’re planning on going to the beach if the weather isn’t raining again and enjoying one last day of family time before it gets crazy for Christmas!
