Today, I am officially starting a new position at my work. Last week, I found out I got chosen for a promotion I was hoping to get. I’m thrilled!
I am still doing the same type of work in my office as an admin. Before, I was in a receptionist type of role. But now I am in a leadership role with more responsibility. I’m really excited about this and am really enjoying my job. It’s a huge blessing to say that and to accept this promotion. Thanks to those of you who have already wished me well!
Needless to say, my lack of presence here last week was due to either working late or just being flat-out exhausted after I got home from adjusting to my ever-changing and ever-growing schedule. This past weekend was the first weekend I truly felt like I had a weekend in a month. It was a nice mix of productivity and relaxation.
Friday night we went to a new-to-us pizza place down the street to celebrate my promotion. It was recommended to my husband by a friend who raved about their unique style of pizza.
It was very unique indeed. We got mac n cheese pizza (right) and an apple butter, apple, feta, and hot pepper pizza (left). Both were very different. We actually ended up liking the apple one better than the mac n cheese one. Good idea, but it wasn’t really pizza.
Saturday was spent running 15 miles and doing some chores. More on that on tomorrow’s workout recap 😉
Sunday was my perfect kind of weekend day, one like I haven’t had in a long time. We went to church for the first time in a few weeks, and it was so refreshing. Before church, I made sure to keep our local bakery
obsession tradition going for the 3rd week in a row.
Raspberry croissant and a blueberry scone = love. It’s seriously the best bakery I’ve ever been to. #addicted
When we got home, I did some meal prep and made this really easy Kansas City Steak Soup recipe. It came together quickly and will make great hearty, ready-to-go lunches for this week.
While the soup was cooking, I decided to do some yoga. Since beginning marathon training, it has been my goal to use Sundays as an active rest day by doing yoga to stretch out after my long runs on Saturday.
I haven’t been able to make the time for this since I have been so busy with moving & chores lately. Last weekend I attempted, but was dog sitting and the dogs were all over me. Forget it!
But this week, it was the most relaxing 20 minutes I’d had all week. I didn’t use a DVD or any planned workout. I just did what felt right and took my time in all the poses, really breathing them out.
I’m hoping to make this a habit, even if it’s just 15 or 20 minutes on Sundays. So soothing and my muscles loved it!
I was also able to get some me time in and finally get into my book club book, Sarah’s Key. It’s so good so far. And so is a nice hot chai tea to go with it 🙂
I’m feeling refreshed and ready to take on my new position at work. Have a great week!
