Sunday night, the hubby and celebrated our one year anniversary 🙂
If you missed it, I relived my wedding day on Sunday through photos in these two posts. Revisiting all my wedding photos really made me thankful and grateful for my husband and my marriage. One year went by so much faster than I realized, too!
Since my husband just got back from China, and we are going out-of-town next week, we had previously decided to skip doing anything “big” for our anniversary. Or so I thought… 😉
Since this is what I thought we agreed to, I didn’t even bother to get him a gift. All I got him was a card. We both exchanged cards the morning of.
He got me this handmade rice paper card from China.
Can all cards please be that pretty? I am such a sucker for cards. Clearly, he knows this.
Anyway, after church, he decided to give me some presents. He told me about this in advance, and said they were extra gifts from his trip. I assumed they would be little things. I was excited, but again, was set up to believe it was nothing big.
When we walked in the door from church, wrapped presents and another paper card were waiting on the table. He is so sneaky!
I opened the little one first to find this really cool jewelry box from Korea.
With a garnet ring inside…! More jewelry? I will not refuse 🙂
Then I opened the next present. And I had to stop and get the camera when I saw this.
No. Freaking. Way.
For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been wanting a Louis for a while now. I’m pretty much obsessed with all things Paris, and having a Louis Vuitton is about the closest thing to handbag heaven that I can imagine.
Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM, you are MINE! Basically, meet my new
best friend favorite bag.
After I had a moment with Louis, as he will be referred to from now on, I opened the little heart card thing. Apparently, it’s oragami that he did himself. Since when does my husband know origami?!
As I opened all the folds, each part said cute little things like “I love you” and all that. But when I got to the very middle it said:
Thursday June 27th, 6:00 pm
The Melting Pot
Apparently, we’re going on a date when we’re in Colorado next week! This is really special because that’s where we went the night we got engaged. Perfect? I think so.
Note: I take no responsibility for how spoiled I may look or sound. I blame him completely! 😉
Then we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. This may sound like an odd restaurant choice for our anniversary, but trust me – there’s a reason. We had an unofficial wedding after-party at Cracker Barrel last year on our wedding day. Cracker Barrel originated in Tennessee, where we got married, so it was fitting for our out-of-town guests.
I really never even knew about Cracker Barrel until I met my husband, anyway. The country goodness that is Cracker Barrel cannot be contained.
I swear I could eat like 10 of those biscuits with apple butter. Just amazing! I got chicken tenders with mac n cheese, and a sweet potato. Hubby got country fried steak, dumplings, green beans, and hash brown casserole. So. Much. Food!
And of course no trip to Cracker Barrel is complete without a minute in the rocking chairs outside. Just perfect. Thanks, hubby! I love you.
