I had a really nice unplugged weekend. I have to say, after I was feeling a little overwhelmed Friday, a weekend being on social media very little and being out and about with my family was just what I needed. I feel so refreshed. Annnd we move into our house later this week so I’m just finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on hotel living!
So with that said, I wanted to share my home decor inspiration. After our move to Texas, a lot of our (very cheap) furniture was in pretty bad shape. I have no idea what shape they are in now, but after three moves, I’m not expecting our Wal-mart and IKEA stuff to hold up much longer. We’re definitely in need of an update.
I’m hoping to be patient with decorating as I have a tendency to want things done instantly, especially when I already decide on what I like. I really want to shop around and get better quality furniture and make sure I truly love it before I just buy something.
My first priority is our bedroom, though. I made this inspiration board from some things I found on Wayfair or Pinterest.
I already have a tufted chair and usually go for vintage romantic inspired decor, so I’d love to get a tufted headboard as well. And yes, I am going with pineapples too. I figured if there’s any time to go all out with pineapples it would be when I live in the pineapple-iest state and while pineapple decor is already a trend 🙂
How cute is this free printable? I’m hoping to use this or something similar.
I also like these looks as inspiration too.
White bedding, that lamp, and the taupe colors – love!
This is a little more plush and glam than I’d go for but I love the neutrals, side tables, and lamps.
Beyond the bedroom, we need stuff for two bathrooms as we pretty much threw away all our bathroom stuff from before because it was gross and we now have two. Our bath I’m thinking of going with an aqua blue, grey, and nautical theme. For the other bathroom, I’m not sure yet because it will be for small kids and guests. I love cutesy kid bathroom stuff but don’t know if that would make for a good guest bath. Either way, I like fish related stuff as Claire is really into Nemo right now. Cheesy, but it will only last a few years, right?
We don’t need to redo much else in the house but we need a new couch BAD. Our old couch is fake leather and was completely ruined by our dog. I like sectionals in neutral colors like taupe and grey.
Love this couch and the upholstered bench as a coffee table.
The one random thing that I really want is a coffee bar. I kind of had this back in Texas on a small metal cart we had in our kitchen, but it wasn’t cute at all. I’m loving something simple like this.
Although no Keurig, thank you 😉 Just a Fresh press. I collect mugs and make coffee every day so this is a no-brainer for me. Not sure how I’ll incorporate this yet, but I’m excited to make something up.
In other news, we ordered a washer and dryer and I have to say, I am SO stoked. We got a pretty basic GE set, nothing fancy but we got a great deal on them at Lowe’s with a 10% off moving coupon that you get from the post office when you change your address and they were already on sale.
I’ve never had a new washer and dryer in my life. I’ve only ever had really old ones. Being a cloth diaperer, I am kind of freaking out that I’ll have a good quality washer and we have a laundry room. So no more laundry in my bathroom or kitchen – imagine that!
I’m really excited to share how our actual decor and design comes out whenever we get there.
