Well, hello there! Between taking care of an almost 6 week old baby and having my mom and in-laws visit, I have been super busy! Let’s catch up, shall we?
1 // I RAN!!!!!!!
Do I really need to say more? Well, I kind of do. The last time I really ran “for real” was Thanksgiving last year. I was pretty much terrified to run again after a 6 month break, after not even working out at all thanks to being on bedrest for 6 weeks, & after giving birth.
Back up a little – over the weekend we broke out the jogging stroller when we went to the beach. I realized just how freaking awesome that thing is. It glides so smooth! It must have encouraged me to try to run, I guess. Hubby & I went for a walk on Sunday night with it and on the way back, we broke into a run! I also ran about 1.4 miles yesterday with only one short walking break. SO stoked!
So not only did I finally run again but I ran two days in a row! And it’s so much better than I thought it would be. I thought I would be starting from square one but I think running my marathon just shy of a year ago really helped keep some of that strength.
I honestly thought I’d have to do walk/run intervals for quite a while and that running even a mile without stopping would be impossible, but I ran 3/4 a mile without stopping from the get-go! I definitely have hope that a half-marathon is my near future.
I can’t wait to race again, but I’m actually a lot more excited about running from a mental standpoint than from a fitness one. Yes, I want to get back in shape after having a baby but running is my therapy and I’ve gone without it for 6 months! I am so excited to have my “me time” back, some of the only time I can not think about things and just truly destress. That’s why I’m so excited about this! And yes, the fitness part is a nice perk too.
2 // My in-laws came to visit.
And it was awesome! We went to the beach, ate way too much food, & had lots of fun having them meet Claire for the first time.

3 // We left Claire for the first time.
With my in-laws. I had only left her with my husband twice so far for a short errand here and there, so this was a big deal. They offered to watch her so we could have a date night, so we did.
We got drinks downtown. It was definitely so weird being without her since I’ve basically been with her 24/7 for 6 weeks, but it was so good. And she was super good for grammy and grampy too! Couldn’t have gone better.
4 // I kinda of stopped reading blogs.
And by kind of mean, completely. Oops. I miss y’all!
Being on my computer now is so much harder with Claire always in my arms. I also have just been so busy with people visiting that I’m really not on my computer at all, but do anything online from my phone these days and I am not a fan of blog reading on my phone.
