Hey guys! I am officially in my new place now 🙂 Back when I found out we were moving to this place, I seriously thought time was going to crawl and it felt like we’d never move in. But the time flew quickly and so did this weekend.
We were originally going to (or at least I was hoping to) move in on Thursday night. But what – of course – happened that night? A snowstorm. Literally the first thought that went through my head when I realized we were moving in February was It’s going to be a snowstorm the weekend we move. Yup, it definitely was and that wasn’t all of it!
We started moving in Friday night after I got off work. We just took one car load of stuff and then it was too late to do any more. We woke up bright and early Saturday morning to go get a rental truck and get started. Hubby & a friend of his loaded the truck & moved the big stuff inside while I stayed inside to unpack smaller things.
I was so happy to finally be moving, but this little guy was not the most cheerful.
It was cold and he did not like the commotion at all, so that meant he was one whiney, needy dog for most of the day. He was actually pretty good for the move, but in general he was a cranky pants.
Overall, the move went well but was definitely overwhelming to me in some parts. It’s crazy to pack up all your stuff and try to move it in one weekend! We made a break for dinner with our friends who were helping us to get Italian.
Much needed after such a long day!
The place is coming together pretty nicely, though. The bathroom, kitchen, and living room are doing pretty well.
Bathroom. I tried to organize it as best as I could.
Kitchen. Still partly packed, but got it cleaned up before I went to bed last night.
Sunday morning, since all our food was still at the old place, we walked down the street to this bakery. It’s literally a 5 minute walk and they had the most amazing everything.
I had a mini croissant and a big scone with some coffee. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to drive by that place daily and not go in and grab something!
Then we had to make a few more runs to the old apartment than expected. The kitchen was the hardest part to get packed and together. It felt like the cabinets were producing more than I thought they could even hold.
It was also really weird to see my old bedroom empty. Goodbye mint green wall! I’ll miss you.
There’s still quite a bit to put away and organize, but I definitely got a lot done in a short amount of time. I’m grateful that when we were actually moving, it was not a snowstorm too. It seemed to snow around the times we were not moving, which was at least better than being snowed on the whole time.
I definitely had to exercise letting go of my frustration and desire to have everything so clean and organized this weekend. I’m proud of what we did do, and I’ll definitely keep you updated on what’s to come.
This is going to be a very busy week for me at work and at home organizing still, so I might not be around too much once again. Have a great weekend! 🙂
