With just a few months left before baby arrives, I find myself getting into nesting mode and wanting to start preparing for this little ones arrival. We haven’t put her room together yet, but it’s going to happen soon (you hear that, hubby?).
Although we aren’t having a “true” nursery just yet due to needing her room for guests after she’s born and moving in a couple of months, I still have a theme going, regardless of how disorganized and “not ideal” her room may be to me.
Mint & Chevron Nursery Inspiration
The main “theme” I am going for (if you will) is grey & white chevrons, mint accents, & white furniture. I wanted to go for a theme that wasn’t too overly baby-ish, girly, all pink, or juvenile. And I realize that this is the same exact theme as my blog right now… What can I say, I know what I like!
I find all the elements of this theme calming, peaceful, and tranquil. I figure that if I feel that way in her nursery, that will help a lot as a new (and clueless) parent, and hopefully the feelings transcend to my newborn. Right? I can hope. I also figure all this can be reused if I have a boy in the future, and I can just change the accent color.

All the blankets!
FYI to anyone getting us gifts: I think we are all set in the blanket department!
3X5 Chevron Rug, Pottery Barn Kids
I love this rug. I was skeptical about getting a small rug but I think it’s a great size! You can also see our chevron diaper bag and one of the PB totes in this pic as well.
I hope to not overdo it with the chevrons but I love them so much and it’s such an easy pattern to find these days. It’s hard to resist! I’m hoping to paint her room either lavender or mint when we get to a more permanent location later. For the time being, I want to find more mint accents to help it have a little more color and not be so grey & white.
We don’t currently have room for the type of changing table I want, but I’d really like a vintage painted white dresser or a simple clean line dresser from IKEA to use as a changing table and then also use as a regular dresser in her room when she’s older.
Here’s two options I really like.
I also want some kind of organizational piece of furniture for all the little baby things we are already accumulating. I saw this from IKEA and thought it was a great option.
Although we will have a queen size bed in the nursery, a make shift changing table for a while, and no room for a rocker yet (which I desperately want!), I think the room will still turn out pretty cute. And in a few months when we move, I’ll get to redo the space all over anyway.
When I first found out I couldn’t have the “perfect” and “ideal” nursery, I was really crushed. But I am starting to realize that we are still having a nursery and it’s still going to be really cute. I can’t wait to share what it looks like when it all comes together before she gets here!
