I finally got my butt in gear to go grocery shopping this week. Typically, my grocery day is Tuesday, but since I
was am still sick, my regular routine got thrown out of whack. I managed to run to the store for a few things since I was in dire need of kleenex (which I already ran out of again) but I was too sick to actually do a full run until yesterday.
I love when I can take some extra time to meal plan, though, and really decide what I want to eat. This week’s meal plan includes:
- Apple Cinnamon Oat Bars via The Lean Green Bean
- Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches via Barefoot Colorado
- Gorgonzola Penne Pasta via Runner Girl Eats
- Chipotle Chicken & Corn Chowder via Brown Eyed Baker
I’m excited to try some new recipes & spice things up a bit – literally! I’m also planning on making my mom’s pumpkin bread soon. It just needs to happen! Recipe to follow. 🙂
However, I’m finding that because I’m sick, I’m craving more junk. Or I just think I deserve it. So far, this week’s treats have included a pumpkin donut from Dunks, tons of carbs, and as much as I tried to resist the urge to buy junk at TJ’s, (who am I kidding?) cheetos.
“Healthy cheetos,” nonetheless 😉 The fact that there is still any left in the bag is a good thing.
I did try to get healthy by grabbing one of these juices (vitamin C, hello!) while I was out, but it actually tasted horrible. I can drink the crazy green one but this one straight up tasted like chalk or something. Not sure what’s up with that.
Last week when I saw Holly’s post about her awesome TJ Maxx finds, I got the itch to go to the best store on earth so I did just that after my grocery trip. Seriously – I could spend my whole paycheck in that store in a heartbeat and still want more. It’s got everything! Thankfully I was short on time so I didn’t do that 😉
I did manage to find this awesome jacket that I’m super stoked to wear this winter. I actually never seem to get good clothing finds at TJ Maxx, so I’m impressed that I found something so nice.
The material it’s made of feels amazing. It’s super soft, cushy, fleece-like but breathable. Aka – awesome for running in the winter. I was looking for a warmer running jacket for when it gets really cold, so it was technically something I needed. Right? Right.
Sick Day Workout
Since I haven’t been feeling my best this week, it’s been hard to get a good workout in. I managed to do some leg strength & elliptical on Monday, took Tuesday off, but on Wednesday I decided I needed to get with it.
I didn’t want to push myself since I was suffering from nasal congestion and standard allergy/head cold symptoms, blowing my nose left and right. I knew a run was still out, but I was not sick enough to call it quits altogether. I just needed a lower intensity workout so I wouldn’t kill myself but would also be getting a workout in.
This workout targets arms, legs, and abs in 3 short, easy sets of low-intensity exercises. In total, this probably only took me about 15 minutes to complete.
This workout was very quick, but it was just enough to make all the main zones of my body feel toned without totally wiping myself out. You can follow this with 20-30 minutes of cardio of your choice for a complete workout.
It definitely feels good to do something over nothing at all. I’m not sick enough to just sit around anymore. I find that working out just a little gives me more energy when I’m sick. Hope I’m better by the weekend!
