Life has been pretty crazy lately. It seems like every weekend for the past few weeks has been packed with stuff!
Last weekend, I went camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. At first, I was really skeptical to go since Beans’ broken leg, but we had already planned the trip with about 12 other people so I didn’t want to cancel. We improvised pretty well if I say so myself.
I ordered this pet carrier for the trip and to make the next 6 weeks of recovery for Beans doable with our summer plans. At first, I wasn’t impressed, but it actually worked really well.
We went on a three+ hour hike with him in it up a mountain and he did great! Here’s the view from our hike. This terrain left me sore for days!
Beans is doing well and is acting like nothing is wrong. He has lots of energy and never seems like his leg is hurting him. The only problem is that he feels so well that he is trying to jump and run. Not good!
He is also clearly getting very bored. We were keeping him in the kitchen to limit his jumping in the house while I’m at work all day, but I kept coming home to things being destroyed.
It’s pretty hard to make things any better for him. I can’t get his energy out by playing very much because then he’ll run and we can’t go on walks. I’m not sure what else to do. We have lots of cuddle time at night, though.
He has started to put weight on his leg already, which kind of worries me, but he must not be in pain if he can do that. We changed his food so he would actually eat, as he’s a really picky eater.
He’s now eating his dog food mixed with sweet potatoes or pumpkin, broccoli, boiled chicken, white rice, and a calcium supplement – and he loves it! I’m just glad he’s eating.
We won’t get any kind of real update on how he’s doing until the 4 week mark (in 2 weeks) when he gets another x-ray. Hope and pray for the best for us!
I’ve been particularly busy in the past week because after we got back from camping, we had to do a ton of clean up. So all day on Sunday we were cleaning out the car and putting our camping stuff away, as well as setting up our new guest room.
Not too shabby, eh?
My in-laws are visiting for the 4th this week, so I turned our office into a guest room. Not just for them, but because in a few weeks one of my friends is moving in with us temporarily!
I’m so excited to spend some time with my in-laws, though. They get in this afternoon and will be with us the whole weekend. We’re planning on taking them around our favorite spots in Boston like we did last time. It’ll be a nice long weekend for sure.
On a totally random side note: I had grilled bananas the other day for the first time. Sounds odd, but they are amazing. It’s like paleo banana bread.
TRY THEM! This is now my “dessert” of choice for the summer 🙂
I’ll be out and about the next couple of days, but look for a new workout post on Friday! Have a great 4th of July!
Questions for You:
- What are your plans for the 4th?
- Do you have a guest room? If yes, do is it used often enough? If no, do you want one?
