For Christmas gifts last year, I made some peppermint sugar scrub for my family & friends. I realized I never made one for myself, though!
I have been in serious need of some good scrub. My winter skin is has not been too happy lately with the freezing temps & heat always blasting. I still had all the ingredients left to make the peppermint scrub, but with spring (hopefully) on the horizon, I wasn’t really in the mood for minty & was dreaming of a something more spa-like & floral for this time of year.
I’ve been all about lavender essential oils lately. I use it to help me sleep at night. It’s one of my favorite scents, period. If everything spa related could be lavender and herb scented, I would be happy.
I wasn’t too sure what herb would best go with lavender and also smell good on your skin. I almost went with basil but thought it would probably be too strong. I took a chance with sage, but realized I love it.
Sage gives it a light herbal scent without being too overpowering. It also helps give the scrub a little more texture to exfoliate your skin.
This scrub is also sooo easy to make. I really only do DIY kind of stuff if it’s really easy. You probably already have all of this in your kitchen.
Lavender Honey Sage Sugar Scrub
You will need…
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/8 cup honey
- 1/2 tsp. sage
- 10-15 drops lavender essential oil
- container to store it in
Specifically, I used:
- Trader Joe’s Organic Coconut Oil
- Trader Joe’s honey
- DoTerra Lavender Essential Oil
- McCormick Dalmation Sage
- regular white sugar
- a wide mouth 8 oz. Mason jar
1. Melt the coconut oil or at least get it soft enough to measure out. Place in a bowl with the sugar and honey. Mix well.
2. Add the sage & lavender last.
How much essential oil you want is up to you. I love mine really strong and can’t get enough of the lavender scent. I used a little over 15 drops. If you’re sensitive to smells, 10 drops would be on the less-smelly spectrum.
3. Spoon carefully into jar of your choice.
This scrub leaves my hands soooo soft. It’s also great anywhere on your body too.
I like to follow it up with my favorite lavender hand cream (Lavande from L’Occtaine) for a special pampering treat before bed. The scent relaxes me & puts me in such a calm, serene mood.
If you guys give this a try, let me know how you like it!
