Woo hoo! I am into the 3rd trimester now! I can’t tell you how excited I am to be that much closer to meeting baby and only having 33% more of pregnancy left. 😀
I’m happy to say that the past couple of weeks have been a lot better than my previous few weeks. I seem to have figured out how to manage my not-so-fun preggo symptoms at work a little better. I also broke down and bought some new maternity clothes, so I’m not having a panic of nothing to wear every day. That alone has made a huge difference.
I’m also doing pretty well with my New Year’s resolution of taking better care of myself, which has a great impact on my pregnancy as well.
How I’m Feeling:
Better! I realize I’m not going to feel 100% for quite a while, but things have been more manageable recently.
Symptoms that are most noticeable now are…
- heartburn like NONE other. All the time. Tums are my candy.
- Feeling lots of pressure/heaviness in my belly
- very congested. Not sure if it’s just my sickness lingering or pregnancy congestion
- round ligament pain, especially if I roll or twist, kind of feels like burning too?
- pretty frequent incontinence (sneezing, etc.) – so fun!
- Braxton Hicks all the time!
Weight Gain: Had an appointment yesterday and confirmed I am up 18 pounds. That sounds like so much to me, but my doctor assured me I was with a normal range. If I gain an average of a pound a week until 40 weeks, I’d put on 30 pounds total. I’m hoping to be under that (25 sounds a lot better), but I think I’m at least on track to not over gain.
And since I’ve been depriving y’all of bump shots…
At the gym the other day. BELLY!
Maternity Clothes: you can check out what I’ve been wearing lately over here.
Overall, the new work clothes have been helping, but I do think I’m due for some new shirts now. First it was the pants not fitting. Now it’s like wow, I can only wear maternity tops. No trying to squeeze into my “big” t-shirts anymore.
Sleep: has been really hit or miss lately. My typical routine these days is to fall asleep on the couch at about 8, then wake up at 10-10:30 to go to my actual bed. I sleep okay for the first half of the night and then toss and turn for the second half.
I’ve also been waking up with numb hips/legs and arms if my arms are above my heart at all. I was assured this is also “normal.” Weird!
Fitness: If I had to rate how fitness is going on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not even working out), I’d rate it a 6.5 right now.
I am doing PiYo and enjoying the stretching and not using weights. But I am also not feeling it the next day either. I think it’s good during pregnancy or to throw into the mix but I don’t really know how you’d get amazing results from the program.
Exercising gives me Braxton Hicks, which are fine, but just uncomfortable. It discourages me from working out more often or harder though. I’m okay with taking it easy for now, but it’s just kind of “meh.”
Gender: I’m really not sure why these are on pregnancy survey posts. She’s a girl and it’s not like that’s going to change 😛
Craving: Kraft mac n cheese, vanilla ice cream/milkshakes, Cheez-its, Ginger ale, baked goods like muffins/banana bread
Food Aversions: veggies are meh, but I still try to eat them. I’m not really into much meat lately either.
Missing: running, a lot! Regular intensity workouts. Not peeing my pants
Movement: hiccups are noticeable now. I am definitely feeling movement and all over – top of my belly, right in the front, very low. She is most active in the early morning or late evening it seems.
New for Baby: eeeeee! We got a lot of new things within the last week – probably my favorites so far.
Some friends of ours came over for dinner and gave us these:
OMG. How adorable are these? But also practical. They are in 12-18 month size, so she can actually wear these when she walks!
And I also got my diaper bag off my registry (this one). LOVE it!
This bag is so versatile and useful looking. I will have to resist the urge to start using this right away as my purse! I can’t wait to use it.
I also got some new things for the nursery, but I’m going to save the details for that for next week when I reveal my nursery inspiration.
Most Looking Forward to: my baby showers – I want to see all my friends and get all the baby things! Birth, believe it or not. Lately, I think about meeting my baby girl all the time. I am just so excited for her to BE here!
Questions for You:
- What pregnancy symptom do you think you’ll least enjoy?
- Mamas: how did your 3rd trimester go?
Yay! 3rd trimester!! You’re getting so close! Love the bump pic, definitely share more of those. 😉 You look great! I’d never say you’ve gained 18 pounds, you look all belly. But, I know that’s easy for me to say. LOVE those cute little pink Nikes!
I would tend to agree with you about the weight. I haven’t gotten a fat face yet, so I think it is mostly belly and thighs/legs weight. I’m okay with that!
Lol to missing not peeing your pants! So excited for you and love the cute stuff you got this week!
You don’t realize you miss that lovely feature until it’s gone! 😉
Which of the PiYo DVDs are you doing? I never do the first DVD, but the second and third ones always make my heart rate rise! Buns and Strength Intervals are my favorite.
I am trying to follow the 60 day program schedule (although I have missed some days). I also didn’t do “Align.” So far, I have only done lower body, upper body (which I hate – I don’t feel like it’s upper body work at all!), and sweat. I get into buns & strength intervals next week.
Oh, that’s probably why you feel that way then! I tried to follow the 60 day program in August, and I was so bored with the first DVD. When I stopped following the program and only did the 2nd and 3rd DVDs, I liked it so much better. I think you’ll like buns and strength intervals — it’s a much better workout!
Okay, good to know! I have already gotten bored and I’m only on week two! I think I’m going to make up my own schedule now instead.
Those baby tennis are crazy a-dorbs! Soooo sweet! So glad you are doing a little bit better now. AND your diaper bag matches your blog 🙂 So cute.
Yes, it does! I actually have a post prepped for next week about my nursery theme – it’s mint and grey/white chevrons just like my blog! I guess that’s just what I like right now!
You wear pregnancy SO well. I know there’s that old wives tale that girl pregnancies show over your whole body and boy pregnancies are just in your belly but you really are all baby belly! I love those sneakers, seriously the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. And your diaper bag is so nice (and could be used if you ever have a boy). I’m excited to see your nursery plans! I think the most difficult aspect of pregnancy (and being a mom) will be the lack of sleep. I am so cranky when I don’t get a good night of sleep, and I really feel my best when I get 9 hours. That will be a huge adjustment for me. Having to adjust my workouts will be tough and I have a crazy fear that I will gain all the weight and never be able to lose it.
Thank you, Emilie! That’s really what people keep telling me. When I see photos, I definitely believe that I am all belly, but when I put my pants on (that don’t fit!) I start to feel differently. I am just glad you can’t see the weight!
I also picked the diaper bag on the fact that it was gender neutral (although my hubby said it’s still too girly for him to carry!).
Sleep will definitely be interesting, I’m sure. I’ve totally learned through pregnancy to embrace the power of naps, no matter how short. So I hope that can get me through the first couple of months!
I can’t believe you are already in your 3rd trimester! It won’t be long at all now : )
I know! I hope the time flies and she’s here before I know it!
Oh my gosh those sneaks are SO CUTE! I had crazy heartburn all the time as well. And as soon as I had Sage, all gone! I’m so glad you are feeling better. Try not to stress about the weight. I promise you’ll be so busy once your little girl is here that you won’t even think about it. I remember my doctor telling me it takes about 25 pounds just providing everything for the baby, and I gained a bit more than that. I definitely was much slower in the third trimester and bigger of course, but I also knew it was coming to an end and I tried to enjoy it as much as possible because really it goes by in a flash. I don’t even really remember what pregnancy was like now and I’m only five months out!
Awww, you and your bump are adorable! Three cheers for Kraft mac n’ cheese, my fav! 🙂 30 is a very healthy amount to gain. Be proud of yourself for that. It falls off faster than you think, so don’t worry. My 3rd trimester was great except for this odd and very painful pelvic pain. No fun!
Those little sneakers are THE CUTEST!! Oh my gosh.
I’ve never done PiYo but I’ve heard it’s a good workout to do during pregnancy. Do you find the workouts online or do you go to classes?
I bought the PiYo series online. So far it’s going well but not quite as pregnancy friendly as I thought.
You look fabulous, mama!! 🙂 Those tiny pink Nikes are so ridiculously adorable, too.
