After realizing that I had to make some changes to my workout routine & being pretty sick for about a week, I am finally getting back in the swing of things with my routine again. Running is still on the back-burner per say, but I did get an awesome long run in this weekend.
My original plan when I thought I was doing Reach the Beach was to run over 13 miles to prep myself for that race. But now that I just have this one half on my schedule, I am going to do 9, 10, and 12 miles before race day. I already ran 12 once, so I think I’ll be golden for the race.
And heck – after struggling through a marathon, I have no fear of the 13.1 anymore. I just wish I could do it with a little umph, but we’ll see how I’m feeling come October.
- Mon: rest day, still sick
- Tue: 2 workout videos – this arms one (awesome!) and a barre legs one
- Wed: 3 mi in the AM – hard since I hadn’t run in a week!
- Thur: 35 min power walk & some good stretching
- Fri: rest day
- Sat: rest day
- Sun: 8 mi long run + probably 2 mi of walking
- Mon: 15 min power walk & this total body video
Today’s workout included a lot of variety. I went to the gym early, and although I hate prying myself out of bed at 5:30 AM, I loooove the feeling of an early workout, getting to work early, and being so energized afterward.
A little gym selfie? No shame.
I started with a quick 5 minutes of rowing to get my heart rate up. Then I did 5 rounds of this circuit, using a cable machine for the arms stuff:
- 10 tricep pull downs
- 10 bicep curls
- 15 bridge lifts
- 30 second plank
- 20 front kicks
You could easily do the arm stuff without the cable machine, though. Then I finished with 10 minutes on the elliptical and some light stretching.
After that I was starving and had some homemade pumpkin spice Greek yogurt & a hot chocolate.
I had Chobani’s PS Greek yogurt and was not a fan, so I decided to make my own. So good. I’ll be sharing the recipe last this week once I “perfect” it 🙂
