No sleeping in for me! Today is going to be busy.
I’m about to head out for a 12 mile long run.
Yay! Then I’ve got a Mary Kay makeover appointment this afternoon. And then we’re late celebrating my husband’s birthday by going to a brewery with some friends. Should be a good day, just jam-packed!
I pretty much run around the same pond that is either a 2 or 3 mile loop every day. As my mileage has climbed, it’s gotten old fast having to do multiple loops. Yesterday I decided venture out into the wild, literally, and went for a trail run somewhere new in hopes of finding a place to do longer runs.
I was going to try to look up a route beforehand, but my computer had just shut itself down and was doing updates, which take forever. I decided to just wing it for once. Yeah, go ahead and laugh. Me? Winging it? Unheard of!
But I did! And it wasn’t really too bad. In fact, I really enjoyed it. I think I should probably start to adopt this mindset from now on:
I wanted to run 5 miles but ended up doing about 5.6 because I got lost. Seriously. My plan was to turn around at 2.5 miles and take the same route back, but that so did not happen. I got to a lot of dead ends on the trail because the park has a few reservoirs.
Here’s one spot I stopped and just chilled out to enjoy the scenery for a second.
I ended up doing this one loop twice before figuring out I needed to go the other way at this fork to get back to the car. I didn’t really get lost, but I definitely had some moments where I was like “Have I been here before or not? I have no idea…” Not a good feeling!
I never run on trail, so it was quite exhilarating to be in the woods with hardly anyone around. But I ended up tripping a lot because I’m not used to all the rocks and roots around. I didn’t fall, but I was really close once. I’m really glad I didn’t trip, not just because I’d get hurt but because I’m sure a fall would’ve ripped my new workout capris. Which are fabulous for running by the way!
Well, I’m off to start my busy day! Happy weekend 🙂
