I’m happy to report that I survived my first day of work yesterday! I actually didn’t end up working a full day since I had a doctor’s appointment scheduled, but it did go very well.
I started the day brutally early at 5:30 AM. So this is working life I thought to myself as morning came way too soon. Even though I was extremely tired from being out late the night before, I knew that if I didn’t do a little something for myself before work that I’d regret it. I did this total body circuit workout, and definitely felt awake (and sweaty) after that!
I got all dressed and ready to go in one of my new outfits.
I’m so glad I picked this outfit for my first day because it was pretty cute but also super comfortable. I could wear this cami/sweater/pant combo every day!
Then I was off!
So, to start off, I am an administrative assistant for a staffing agency. My job duties include getting clients checked in and having them fill out the appropriate paper work in order to start work. The staffing agency I work for specializes in office jobs, such as other admin assistant jobs, as well as data entry, medical record clerks, copy editors, etc.
This week is all training for me. The girl I am replacing is still here this week, so we’re working together to get me all trainied and ready go to for next week when I’m on my own.
Today was a lot of watching and taking it all in. I took about 4 pages of notes!
Most of the day was kind of a blur before it was lunch time. I didn’t think to snap a picture of my lunch before I started scarfing it down, but here’s what was left when that thought crossed my mind 😉
I know you can’t tell, but I packed a buffalo chicken sandwich, a salad, and some peaches & cream. Note: I got a lunch box from Target over the weekend. Cute, right? Well, I’ve already decided to return it because it’s super awkward shaped and doesn’t fit any of my tupperware well. I could barely fit those three tupperwares in it today. Useless!
Also note my travel mug. I decided to try some decaf today as I had some last Friday and I was fine. I thought I could go with decaf after being caffeine free for so long. However, all my breathing troubles & shortness of breath came back today, full swing. But now, I’m not sure it was the coffee or just anxiety over the job.
I didn’t feel that anxious, but maybe just the little bit of caffeine mixed with anxiety got my breathing wonky again? No idea, but I’m not happy. No more coffee for the rest of the week…
And just for fun, here is my new workspace/desk area.
Overall, it was a pretty good day. My brain feels like mush because I was trying to pay attention so well. I’m sure I’ll figure it out and adjust to my new schedule soon!
In the mean time, I am hoping to keep up with the blog as well as I can – but of course – bear with me as I adjust! Thanks for all the support 🙂
