Happy Friday & welcome to the first Faith in My Friday!
If you missed my post from earlier this week, I announced that I’m starting a weekly posting to reflect on, write about, and share my faith. I’ve had the inkling to start a weekly posting on faith for a while, and I’m happy to finally take the plunge. Faith is not merely a part of my life, but who I am. Thus, writing about it is only natural to me.
I realize that faith can be a touchy subject for many, so I feel the need to address the nature of the subject before I start. If this topic is something that you do not want to read about or think will cause you to be upset, then please don’t. I am not forcing anyone to read this.
If you don’t like something I say or disagree with my opinion, I welcome constructive comments and open discussion. Hateful, rude, or flaming comments will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, I am not a pastor nor do I have any formal theological training. I am simply sharing what I believe, what I know from personal experience, and what I’ve learned over the years.
What This Is
- a way to share my beliefs in Christ
- explore new topics
- be a more open writer, blogger, and person
- show how God is at work in my life
- draw others near to know the Lord
- be a light in a dark world
- motivate, inspire and enlighten others
What This Is Not
- me trying to shove my opinion down anyone’s throat
- saying my view is the only way and that everything else is wrong
- me trying to be preachy, pushy, or annoying
- a way for me to brag about my faith or what a “great Christian” I am
- me trying to provoke or attack any group or way of thinking
And with all of that said – Onward!
Today, I want to start with the foundation of my faith before I dive into anything else. Here are some basic facts about my faith & beliefs.
I believe in Jesus Christ, that he was and is a real person who came to save the world from sin and death.
I believe in eternal life in Heaven.
I believe in the Holy trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
I claim to be a nondenominational Christian & go to a nondenominational church.
I was not raised as a Christian, but came to know the Lord when I was about 20.
I believe that faith is about trusting the Lord with everything.
I believe the Bible as truth.
There is a lot more than just that to my beliefs, but there’s a good chunk of basics to help you understand exactly what I believe.
In the coming weeks and months as I write this series, I hope not to “prove” to you, but show you how and why I believe all this, how a man named Jesus has transformed me into someone completely different, how my life is marked with freedom instead of sorrows, how I have been forgiven, set free, and rejoice in His grace. I could go on, and so I will.
I am not perfect in my beliefs or faith. Yes, there are some holes – many, many holes. We’ll dive into that too.
I hope to cover a wide range of topics and simply share the undeniable evidence I see of God in my life, and to “declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3).
