Happy training Tuesday!
Before last week’s race, I finally decided to update my running playlist. I typically run sans music, but for longer runs where I need some extra motivation, I still prefer music. I wanted to be as prepared as I could for my 20 mile race, so I made a new workout playlist.
Some of you guys asked me what was on my playlist, so I thought I’d share some random favorites. The entire playlist is 4 hours long, so I’m not going to share the whole thing, but just a few songs that may spark your interest.
Keep in mind, I am not really up to date with current music. I only follow a few bands, and not very closely. So most of this music is not new at all, but it still keeps me going.
It’s a good mix of old and new, which I like to keep it interesting. It definitely helped a lot on my race and has been a nice change since.
Weekly Workouts: Still in Recovery Mode
Since the 20 miler, I have still been recovering. Workouts were pretty light this past week and I’m okay with it. I totally needed the break after pushing myself at the race.
Monday – rest, lots of stretching
Tuesday – rest
Wednesday – 5.5 mile run outside after work. Weather was great for a run, but this was my first run since the race. Totally shouldn’t have done 5 miles and opted for something less. For the first 3 miles, I just felt awful and all my soreness came back instantly. The last 2 miles felt great, though.
Thursday – 2ish mile run outside after work because it was nice.
Friday – rest
Saturday – 13ish mile cutback long run. Was really not feeling like running, just out of pure exhaustion from my busy week. The weather was decent, but I overestimated how nice it would be and ran in just a t-shirt and shorts and froze because of the wind. Oops.
Sunday – typical yoga routine, which I will be sharing soon. Promise!
Monday – quick arms circuit w/weights & a 2 mi run
I’m ready for a more consistent week of training this week, and the weather looks ideal to get outside for all my runs! I’m supposed to do 20 miles again this Sunday, though, and so far am not feeling it. I know I’ll get through it – I just hope I’m in the mood for it by the time I need to run.
But after that, it’s taper time! The marathon will be here before I know it!
