I’m blogging from the comfort of my in-laws cozy couch, a blankie, and Beans nuzzled at my side. We left Saturday night right when it started snowing in Boston.
If our flight had been any later, I’m almost positive we wouldn’t have made it. So lucky! We made it and I’ve been relaxing ever since. Coming to their relaxing country home is my absolute favorite!
Elf for Health: Round 2, Week 1
Last week was the first week I participated in the Elf for Health challenge. I haven’t been doing that great of a job of sharing my elfing, so I thought I’d share what I have been up to.
Monday: Do a Circuit Workout – this was not a hard one for me as I love circuit workouts! I made this running, arms, and legs circuit to kill two birds with one stone.
Tuesday: Pay it Forward – I was struggling to think of what to do for this one. I remembered that I needed to make cookies for the volunteers of my church for a thing we were doing this Sunday. I made 4 dozen or so cookies for goodie bags 🙂
Wednesday: Pack a Healthy Snack – I almost forgot about this one, but thankfully I pack pretty healthy snacks anyway 😉 I didn’t manage to bring one for a friend, but I had some Greek yogurt, a tangerine, and some peppermint tea at work.
Thursday: Take some time for yourself – This is the challenge I was most looking forward to, as I tend to make excuses as to why I can’t take me time on a regular basis.
Although I had a very jam-packed schedule on Thursday, I took my lunch break to read a new book for 45 minutes. It felt great.
Friday: Run a mile as fast as you can – I posted my results on Friday already, but I got a 9:20 pace in for a mile on the treadmill. Not too shabby for me!
Saturday: Clean out your closet & donate items – I did manage to clean out my hall closet a little bit, but I was also leaving for my flight on Saturday so I didn’t have enough time to make a goodwill donation. I actually already have about 3 bags ready to be donated from previous closet clean outs. I just need to get there!
I really managed to clean out my fridge though. Look how empty & clean it is!
That counts, right?! I think so.
Sunday: Plan your meals for the week – I flat out skipped this challenge day because I’m at my in-laws right now. I’m not in charge of cooking dinner, so I’m okay with leaving it up in the air. I typically plan my meals in advance all the time, so I’m okay with letting is slide since this is already part of my normal routine.
My mom actually just sent me this awesome meal planning chart for the side of the fridge. I can’t wait to use it when I get back!
So far, it’s been really fun to participate in the challenge. My elf buddy Cassandra has been so great to talk to every day this week. We’ve been emailing back and forth sharing more details about our challenges and how our weeks are going. It’s nice to have a new pen pal for the time being.
I’m about to go out for my long run that I missed from Saturday. Here’s to 7 miles in unexplored territory! Wish me luck!
