Good morning, guys! Did you have a good Easter weekend?
My Easter was especially nice since it was also my birthday! Since my birthday was on Easter, the hubby & I celebrated on Saturday with my turn for a date day.
I wore some new mint green pants I got in NYC.
I think this is my favorite new spring outfit!
I really only wanted 3 things on my birthday/date day: Starbucks, shopping, and chocolate. Those are the essentials in life, right? We picked up some Starbucks and then went to the mall.
I picked up this cute dress from Target, a purse, and some other goodies.
Then we headed to dinner at Max Brenner’s. We went here a couple of weeks ago for Valentine’s Day for drinks. The drinks were so good, but I really wanted to try their food too.
We started with some onion rings.
When we first got them, I was like – wow, that’s not that many. But these were so filling. The portion size was perfect. The sauce on the side is ranch dressing with cocoa powder in it. Sounds odd, but it was very good!
Then I got an Asian chicken salad. I was really craving one since NY, but didn’t get one when we were there. This totally satisfied my craving!
The best part was all the crispy wonton’s on top. The salad also had noodles mixed in with it, which was really good.
And then, of course, there was some chocolate dessert involved. Behold the fondue.
The three little round things on the left had tea lights under them to keep the fondue warm. We got milk chocolate, toffee, and dark chocolate fondues. It was served with strawberries, bananas, cookies, chocolate cake, brownie pieces, and marshmallows.
The most fun part of the fondue was the fire pit thing that came with it to roast your marshmallows.
I also ended up roasting my banana and heating up a cookie too. It was just too much fun! I loved Max Brenner’s, and I’d definitely go back again. Saturday was a fun date/birthday day, but the birthday fun wasn’t over yet…
Sunday, we went to church & then my friend’s brunch afterward. Then we came home and had a pretty low-key night together. My birthday dinner request?
The world’s best mac n cheese recipe, everrrr.
This stuff IS the holy grail of mac n cheese recipes. And the hubby makes it very well! The recipe uses sharp white cheddar and Gruyère. And the bread crumbs on top really make it.
And if that didn’t leave me full enough, I still had some Godiva to break into.
We have these cards for Godiva where you can get a free truffle each month. And apparently during your birthday month, you get a $10 credit. I got the “birthday cake” truffle, as it seemed fitting and some chocolate covered strawberries with the credit.
And that, my friends, will be my last dessert for the week since today starts Laura’s Sugar Detox Challenge! More on that later.
Questions for You:
- If you celebrate it, what’d you do for Easter? Do you have Easter traditions?
