Hello! I feel like it’s been forever since I actually blogged and caught up with y’all!
I went on a big trip with Claire to see family and meant to schedule some posts for the time I was gone but didn’t get around to it (aka, I was literally packing for that trip two hours before we were leaving on the plane!). Then last week just happened to be crazy busy and I didn’t get to blog about anything except baby stuff.
Thanks again for all the lovely comments and name suggestions for baby girl #2. I want to stop calling her #2 though. So far her nickname has been lil pineapple, since she will be my Hawaii baby 😉
And since it’s “fall,” here’s a picture of my favorite seasonal wreath, which I finally hung up.
Anywho – let’s catch up!
Reading // Um, everything? lol. I am reading four books right now – the same novel I’ve been working on FORever and should either just finish or quit already (Summer Island by Kristin Hannah), Sizzle, the marriage book I started last month, Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequest, which is amazing and I’ll totally be reviewing, and Jesus Calling along with regular Bible reading in my new Bible.
A lot of you seem interested in the new journaling Bible I got so I decided to review it in the next couple of weeks. It’s just SUCH a nice Bible and I want to show you guys. It’s really helped me want to read the Bible more, which has always been a struggle of mine.
I also just started a book club with some ladies and we’ll be reading The Girl on the Train for next month.
Watching // Nothing at the moment, but I watched a lot of Grey’s Anatomy and Friends on Netflix over my trip. Those two never get old!
Drinking // Actual coffee! I went cold turkey with coffee during the first trimester because I just couldn’t stomach it, but now it’s my jam again. I was having those Starbucks Via instant vanilla lattes every day last week – SO good.
Loving // That Claire and I have a solid routine that is finally working for both of us. I was really a pretty unhappy mom since we got to Hawaii because our routine, if we ever had one, went out the window.
Thankfully, ever since we got back from our trip, I decided to drop her morning nap that she was still taking and we finally have one long afternoon nap (usually – as I type this she has of course randomly woken from that nap way early).
Next week, I’m sharing a Day in the Life post about what our new routine is like, so stay tuned.
Not Loving // That I’m super wiped out every night. Our new routine has us out every morning to keep Claire occupied and then I usually use her nap time to get work and chores done. Come dinner time, I already feel like I’m ready for bed!
I also seem to have pregnancy congestion now, which makes me feel like I have a cold 24/7 but I don’t. Not fun!
Needing // Maternity work out clothes. I stopped working out around 4 months pregnant with Claire, but I’m bigger this time so I feel more like 5+ months pregnant and I have nothing to wear. Everything I find is so expensive though, but I know I need it soon!
Wanting // To buy Claire #allthethings for Christmas. I can’t even! Last Christmas we didn’t hardly get her anything since we had Christmas with family (aka grandma!) who got her a lot. Since she didn’t understand what was going on or really care for new toys, it was just whatever. But this year since she likes new toys and sort of gets the concept of Christmas, I want to get her everything! It’s so easy to see how kids end up spoiled once you have one.
I already got her a Pottery Barn Kids anywhere chair with her name on it. I’m planning on getting her a few new books, and maybe a play kitchen. But I also really want to get her some baby doll stuff like a stroller, since she seems interested in that now. But maybe I’ll save that until her next birthday right after little sister arrives.
Craving // Margaritas. Seriously! I never missed not having alcohol when I was pregnant last time. I’m not even a big drinker to be begin with but all I want lately is a good marg!
Bane of my Existence // Claire’s future room. We have three bedrooms downstairs: Claire’s current room which is staying as it is for the new baby, my SIL’s room, and Claire’s future room, which is full of junk.
Our hope is to clear it out and have her new room ready to go by Christmas. I want to get her used to that room and a new bed for at least a few months before the baby comes, but it feels like it’ll take ages to deal with all the stuff!
Putting off // Well, organizing that room, for one! Really, just getting small things organized to make our house more functional or getting rid of junk.
We’ve done a pretty good job with the house right now, but the reason the room downstairs is full of stuff is because we’re just not dealing with things and dumping them. They either need to be donated/sold or put away properly and we’ve just been kind of lazy about it.
Happy about // My photography business doing really well. I really had no idea what I was doing when I started it, but I put an ad out for mini sessions for October and November on some Facebook pages and I’m completely booked up. I even have some bookings into December and January, which is kind of crazy to me.
A sweet baby from a recent session
I’m so enjoying this as a hobby, non-mom activity, and creative outlet. My customers lately have been really happy with the final product and it just makes me burst with joy to know that someone is going to enjoy their photos for years to come. I feel like I sound so cheesy when I talk about it, but doing this as a “job” is a dream come true. I never would have imaged that I’d love it as much as I do, but it’s definitely “my thing.”
Looking forward to // Having a housewarming party in November. Having Thanksgiving at a friend’s house next month. The holiday season starting.
Hope the rest of your Monday is well-caffeinated and easy breezy!
