Hi, there November! Totally feeling like I have no idea where 2015 has gone! Here’s what’s been going on for me lately.
Reading // ALL THE BOOKS! Seriously, what am I not reading lately?
I started taking weekly trips to the library with Claire just to get out of the house to do something. Well, it turns out that if I know I have to return a book in a few weeks and I get enough books, I actually read them. I’ve seriously been trying to make reading a bigger priority all year so I am really glad I am now.
Last month I read…
- The Blood of an Englishman by M.C. Beaton (British mystery series that I’m getting hooked on)
- Vision in White by Nora Roberts (loved, will be reading the rest of this series)
- Death of a Liar by M.C. Beaton (another mystery series by her, not as good)
I’m currently reading First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen. I’m almost done. It’s really good! Oh and if you wanna be my friend on Goodreads, I’m over here.
Needing // To make a legit cleaning schedule or something. My house has never been messier/not clean. I think it’s because this house is very temporary so I don’t care as much and is just plain hard to clean. I find that I do better if I have schedule though, so I might make one soon and hope I can stick to it.
Loving // Making my own baby food. Claire is eating solids like crazy now. Baby food is really not cost effective though and sometimes I wonder about where it comes from/what is actually in it. I also have a hard time finding organic baby food that is not in those silly pouches.
So far I’ve made my own mixes of foods and Claire loves them. Above is peas and sweet potatoes. I blend steamed food in the blender, put the mix in ice cube trays, freeze them, and then heat up 2-3 cubes worth for a meal for her. It’s working out great.
Not Loving // How how it’s been to make friends in Texas. I had a built-in support system of awesome moms back in Boston (if you’re reading, I MISS YOU!!!). It’s been like awkward dating ever since I came to Texas trying to feel out new friends. It’s hard since I know I’m moving soon too, so I’m afraid people aren’t investing in me because of that. But I also could try a little harder too, I’m sure.
Craving // My old bakery treats from Boston. Nothing will ever compare to that place up the street from me.
I had it so good! I’ve been getting crummy Wal-mart croissants and it’s not cutting it. The only bakeries around here are Mexican, which is totally different.
Putting off // Organizing leftover boxes from the move and going through stuff. I am super not motivated since we are just moving again next spring. There’s also really no where to put the stuff anyway, so I’d rather just leave it all in boxes.
Happy about // Having a solid workout routine. It makes all the difference. I just finished T25, which I got good results from but also got really burnt out on doing workout videos every day. I’m much happier doing strength myself so I don’t have to stop a video every five minutes to deal with a baby. I’m also walking a lot lately and need to get my butt in gear with some runs soon.
Scared to // Travel/Fly with Claire. All the moms I know have assured me that flying with her will be better than I think, and I’m sure it will. But I’m driving 2 hours to an airport with her, then taking a 1 hour and 2 hour flight to get to Colorado. Not ideal at all! But if she can survive a trip to NYC and a 40+ hour road trip on our move, I guess she will be a trooper through anything!
Looking forward to // The holidays. We’re hosting a friendsgiving again and then going to my in-laws for Christmas. I’m so excited for Claire’s first Christmas even if she doesn’t know what’s going on yet.
Questions for You:
- What are you putting off, craving, or looking forward to?
- If you could have any food delivered to you today, what would it be?
