Hello! June already?
These currently posts make my head spin sometimes with how fast time seems to be going this year. Does life just go faster post-25 or post-baby? I have no idea but it sure feels like it.
Here’s what’s goin’ on in my neck of the woods.
Reading // Still working on All The Light We Cannot See. That book is long. I also just started The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman.
I think I attempted to read this book years ago but it just wasn’t interesting to me then. There are a lot of statistics and general marriage information, so it can be a little overhwhelming. So far it’s really good though.
Loving // Being a stay-at-home-mom (and being a mom in general).
I was a little leary about whether or not I’d get bored or feel isolated. I know it’s only been about seven weeks, but I definitely feel cut out to stay home. I feel energized and happy by keeping home and being with my daughter all day. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Not Loving // My postpartum body and the fact that nothing fits me still. It’s all yoga pants and maxi skirts over here.
I did not expect to lose all the baby weight by only a few weeks later, but I actually haven’t lost any weight since we came home with Claire, which I find a little odd considering what everyone told me about breastfeeding and I’m not eating a ton. So far the whole “breastfeeding helps you lose the weight” thing hasn’t been true for me at all.
While I am getting comments like, “You don’t look like you just had a baby!” I very much still feel like I just had a baby because, duh, I did. It’s a little frustrating that even though I may appear thin or to be in good shape, I still feel anything but. I know it took 9 months to get this way, but it’s so not helpful to tell a new mom that it’ll take 9 monhts or more to return to any kind of normalcy. What happens to your body after pregancy is a serious mind game and that kind of comment just makes me want to punch people in the face. #sorrynotsorry
Craving // A good confessions post.
There is a lot on my mind (clearly after tha rant!) that I don’t think I’m getting out through writing or the blog (if the above is any indication) since everything has been about baby stuff lately. Be on the look out for a heartfelt post soon.
Needing // A new sports bra, big time. I have no idea why, but this is something I am always cheap about. I have crappy Target ones that are all stretched out and not cutting it anymore.
My splurge this month is going to be a legit bra. I’m thinking of getting one at Athleta. Anyone else have any good recs, let me know!
Happy about // Deciding on a workout plan. I was really hesitant about what to do because I’ve been out of the workout scene for so long, but I decided on Jillian’s Ripped in 30.
It’s not that hard and it’ll give me room to run some too. I’m looking forward to just doing any kind of workout again!
Scared to // Go on our first road trip with Claire later this month. We’re going to a wedding 10 hours away. We decided to drive because if we flew, we’d have to rent a car anyway.
We also are crazy people and thought since it’ll be on the way, we’ll stop through NYC on the way back for some sight seeing. With a newborn. Yeah, I’ll tell you how that one goes. #OMG
Putting off // Starting moving to-dos. Aka organizing the house. I made a small dent in somethings this weekend, but I basically want to go through my entire basement full of junk and really consolidate before we move. Only 63 more days – yikes!
Looking forward to // My girlfriend Melissa coming to visit this week!
We go wayyyy back. I think we met in 7th grade? Here’s an old photo I found of us on her 21st birthday.
Just babies then! Can’t wait to spend the weekend with her and show her around Boston.
Have a lovely Monday & start of the month!
