Reading // Quite a bit still. Aunt Dimity and The Summer King by Nancy Atherton, another book in a long mystery series that I am now hooked on.
I also picked up Jesus Calling by Sarah Young to use as an advent devotional for this season as well as my yearly devotional for next year. I am totally in love with it so far.
Needing // To meal plan better. We eat plenty of good meals for dinner, but breakfast and lunch are suffering. Lately I just hate meal planning so much and don’t make the time for it that by the time I have some dinners planned, I’m like okay, I’m done now. I’ll wing the rest.
But it’s really making us waste food or some days I’m like I have no idea what to eat for lunch! I’m going to meal plan today and shop tomorrow. Hopefully it goes a little smoother this week and I can get my act together. Any favorite lunches or breakfasts, be sure to let me know!
Loving // This stage with Claire. We may not be sleeping the best these days, but I’m really kind of over that. This is the best baby stage. She is close to crawling but not quite. She’s so vocal and playful. She loves to grab everything.
She gets closer to crawling every day!
Not Loving // How isolated I feel here in Texas. I got connected with a few mom groups as soon as I got here, but it seems like everyone already has their niche of friends or is always busy. I know I could put more effort in to connect with people, but knowing that we’re moving in just another few months is really holding me back from doing so.
Craving // Scones & cookies. So I made both yesterday!
My mom’s scones recipe and they turned out almost as good as when she makes them. I’ve shared a simple but totally different scone recipe here, but would anyone like this recipe? These are very traditional but delicious if you’re a scone person.
And I made chocolate peppermint pudding cookies that I make every year. It’s just not Christmas without these, babies.
Putting off // Going through our junk. I made some progress when we first moved here and we unpacked. I got rid of a lot of clothes, but that’s about it. I sold a few random things on eBay, but I’ve kind of lost the motivation to go through other things. I really thought I’d get with it here, but it’s just so hard to start a big project like that with a baby around.
Praying about // I thought I’d add this one in now (stole this from you, Danica!).
- Where we are moving to next and that our move logistics are better this time than last
- For rest for myself and that I would let myself have quiet time with the Lord instead of being busy
- Claire’s sleep to improve
- For balance between all my roles and that I have realistic expectations for myself as a mother
- Certain people to grow in faith
Happy about // Signing up for some races! Besides that random 9k I ran before we left Boston, I have really not run at all post-baby. I absolutely need races to get me to run, so I signed up for four – haha!
I found this race series that is a 10k, 12k, and 15k (6.2, 7.5, and 9.3 mi for you non-runner peeps). I signed up for that. But they all coincide with training for a half marathon by the same running club, so I was like, well if I’m already running 9 miles, what’s 13.1? So I signed up for the half as well. Why not?
I’m stoked, though! I went on a quick 2 miler yesterday to test out some new shoes and I am good to go! I know I haven’t talked post-baby fitness at all really (and have been avoiding it, honestly), but I think I’m ready to talk about how that has gone for me soon.
Scared to // Nothing is really coming to mind right now… honestly. Watch that change drastically now that I said this!
Looking forward to // Spending Christmas at my in-laws in a few weeks and Claire’s first Christmas!
Questions for You:
- What are you craving, praying about, or reading lately?
- Does it “feel” like December or Christmastime where you are? It’s warm here and does not “feel” like it yet to me.
