I’ve got a sweet minute where I have had my coffee, a shower, am dressed in “real” clothes, Stella is napping and my family is out with Claire. Time to blog or do anything on the computer has been hard to come by. I miss hearing from y’all and wish I was more “with it” here, but I’m sure you understand my absence!
Anywho, before this month is officially over – like seriously, where did April go?!? – I thought we could play catch up with a currently post.
Reading // After You by Jojo Moyes. I read Me Before You last month, and while I didn’t just love it like some people did, I thought the sequel would be worth picking up.
It seems like she made the sequel because readers requested it though, not because she intended there to ever be one. So the story line seems like she kind of went out on a limb to make another story. The way that Me Before You ends just doesn’t seem like there should be a sequel. But it deals with the topic of grief in an interesting way that I can appreciate.
I also just picked up Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst. I read The Best Yes by her last month and could just not wait to get my hands on this one, as I loved The Best Yes. It was on sale on Amazon for only $8 too, so I couldn’t pass it up.
Drinking // So much La Croix seltzer. I hate how expensive this stuff is but it’s my fave! And of course, a lot of coffee now too.
Eating // TRAIL MIX. Just give me the trail mix and no one gets hurt. Must be a nursing hunger thing?
Also, tons of Trader Joe’s crunchy cheetos. I requested my in-laws bring me some since we have no TJ’s here. But my mom also sent me some for my birthday. So I
am now was the proud owner of 5 bags of cheetos!
Wearing // Grubby pajamas, nursing tank tops & lose shorts, and some leftover maternity dresses.
I didn’t mean to grimace… But whatever. This was my maternity staple outfit, headband and all. Still rocking it. And the “over my bump” hand even though the bump is (almost) not there. It’s always so hard for me to stop caressing my belly after pregnancy, with 9 months of petting the baby in there!
Loving // My new plants! We always meant to get some plants for our outdoor areas here since moving in, but it just never happened. My mother-in-law is an amazing gardener, so we took her up on helping us get a garden started and some house plants.
I spruced up my desk space with an orchid.
And we planted a nice garden by the front door. We also got a planter and a big pot of herbs on our lanai. It just feels like we actually live here now that there is plant life.
Craving // Healthy eating and a good workout.
While I want to clean up our diet, the whole month was a lot of sight seeing and being out and about with my in-laws, so we ate like we were on vacation. No regrets, but I think I could not go out to eat for a month now and be totally okay.
I also really haven’t had a true workout since about February. I’ve been plenty on the go and walking a lot. I hope to go on some longer power walks with the girls once I am on my own (next week – yikes!). I plan to do some kind of at-home Jillian Michael’s DVD I have like 30 Day Shred once I get my 6 week clearance from my doctor. I did that after Claire’s birth and while it didn’t give amazing results or anything, it was a great step in the right direction to making fitness a part of my routine again. I’m looking forward to it, but need all the motivation I can get too.
Wanting // A good routine and to be more intentional with Claire in the stage she’s in. But I realize that I’ll probably have to work out the kinks of finding a good groove between two kids and the new mom-to-two that I am now and have some patience with this.
Bane of my Existence // Finishing writing Stella’s birth story! It’s about half done. I promise, it’s coming next week!
Putting off // Actually organizing my photos on my computer, both work and personal. And ordering prints for a gallery wall. Does anyone else have major trouble with photo organization??
Happy about // Having a healthy baby. Stella is definitely a pretty easy baby, but she’s still a baby.
When things gets hard and I have to rock her for hours or what not, I just remind myself that she’s healthy and thriving. I’m thankful that I have a baby to rock for hours and that she’s mine.
Scared to // Be all on my own with both the girls next week! I consider myself so lucky that I had three extra adults around for most of the month to help me out with one or both girls. The few times I have been alone with both the girls has been a challenge for sure. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes once my family leaves and hubby goes back to work! Pray for me!
Looking forward to // My dad visiting in June – because that’ll be here before we know it, right?!
