I’m feeling down after the news about Orlando yesterday. After living in Boston during the marathon bombings, attacks like this really hit home of how real they truly are. I’ve definitely been praying for those affected and am so saddened that so many were lost and affected.
I shared this last week.
Happy Aloha Friday 🌴 A little raw honesty: I’ve been kind of an emotional mess this week. Today marks our 40th day living in a hotel (aka living without much consistency or routine). I’m craving routine and much more self-care like crazy. I KNOW I need it. And of course my devotional today talked about “what is causing you to be emotional lately.” Okay, God, totally listening 🙏 Be prepared for a big long post soon on how I hope to get my act together, how I’m quitting some things to make room for ✳ better things ✳ Quitting isn’t always bad! 👌 I hope your weekend is balanced, fun, and free, just like these palm trees 😊
I’ve definitely had a little case of overwhelm and have just been trying to do too much with no plan in place. As I said Friday, staying in a hotel for this long has just started to grate on my nerves. I just want “my life” back, whatever that may look like once we get into a house.
We have found a housing option that I’m excited to share with you guys soon that should be ready in the coming weeks, though, so we have that to look forward to. I feel like I keep saying “when we get in a house…” but I realized that my life is totally out of balance now so why wait until things are “ideal” to make changes? I think it’ll only be that much harder if I wait until yet another transition to get things in line, so I’m hoping to make some changes now so when we are in a house, the transition is hopefully easier.
I like the break things into small chunks so for this week, I’m going to work on these goals.
1 // Change and stick to a new workout program.
I did Insanity for the last 5 weeks. It was time to move onto the month 2 workouts. I did one and just wasn’t into it anymore. The workouts are so long and I get so incredibly sweaty in the hotel room, it’s just gross.
I’m switching to body weight strength training, running, and yoga and Pilates classes.
Over the weekend, I went to a free yoga class at the Lululemon store here. It was a great workout! I’ll definitely be back because you can’t really beat free fitness classes.
It felt SO good to do yoga in a class setting again and I was actually super sore from it. Win!
2 // Set daily goals in my planner.
Lately, I’ve been like DO ALL THE THINGS all the time. So I am either trying to do everything all at once, which results in getting about nothing done. Or I’m staying up extremely late trying to do stuff since I’ve set no boundaries on my to do list.
I used to use my planner all the time and this method works great. I hope to break what I want to do into smaller chunks so I can see what I’m accomplishing and generally be more wise with my time.
3 // Have a nighttime routine again.
Again, I have been letting my “to dos” carry late into the night just because it’s available time. I haven’t been taking any time to relax lately and before I know it, it’s 10 pm and I’ve been busy all night and then I have a hard time falling asleep.
I think it’s going to be hard to kick this habit because I love having uninterrupted productive time after C goes to bed. I’ve had a face mask I’ve been meaning to use and wanted to paint my nails for weeks though, so I think it’s time to just say no and focus on something else. I also haven’t been reading much either and want to get back to that.
I also wanted to let you know to check out Heather’s new site launch today. So happy to have helped her and see her with a fresh new space all her own!
I hope you guys have a productive week!
