Happy Monday, my friends! I have a lot of random thoughts in my head today, so I thought another confessions post was in order.
1. I ended my detox early. And I hated it.
I’ll just come right out and say it – 3 weeks was a little overzealous for me to do a sugar detox right now. Last week did have lots of good eats if you follow my Instagram & Facebook page, but it was not all as it seemed. Apparently my pregnant body really did not like a lot of the things we planned to eat. It wasn’t even about the sugar, it was just that I refused to eat edamamme as a snack and the smell of salmon makes me gag.
I was actually upset all week because my body was refusing to cooperate or so it seemed. I also had a lot of mental issues with the detox, like having “off limits” foods. Now that I’ve decided to end it, I’m not rushing for the sweets – I’m just happy to have regular bread and some cheese again!
2. I got started on Christmas shopping this weekend (and loved it).
I have always loved Christmas, but this year I feel like I am in overdrive about it. As soon as Halloween ended, I was okay with tearing the pumpkins down and welcoming Christmas.
I think it must be the pregnant lady in me, but I feel compelled to be super crafty this year, so I got a bunch of supplies to make gifts and some crafts for the house.
I also got hubby his first few gifts. Feeling good!
3. I am meeting Stacie this week!
Of Simply Southern Stacie. She is coming to Boston for work and we’re going out for pizza (yes, I decided that for us 😉 ). First ever blogger meet up. Wicked excited!
4. My skin is horribly dry!
Being from Colorado, I am usually on top of this because skin dryness was an issue year-round there. However, I can easily stop using lotion in Massachusetts because of the humidity. Big skin oops, though! My hands, lips, and face are super dry.
I picked up some of this Candy Cane Chapstick while Christmas shopping.
I can say I actually like it better than Burt’s Bees! It’s soooo pepperminty. Love!
5. I can’t really bend over any more.
Yup, I think I’ve reached that point in my pregnancy. I did a lot of buzzing around in my house this weekend and realized bending over feels really weird. Probably because there is a giant bubble shaped organ with a person inside it right where I need to bend!
6. I’ve felt the baby move.
Yeah, oops – I SO forgot to mention this on any of my bumpdates. Blame pregnancy brain! I think I felt first flutters at 13 weeks. I have felt distinct little punches or kicks recently though. Most of the time, it just feels like swimming. I can feel her moving the most when I am super still and focused on something else. It’s really neat!
7. I cooked for the first time in a week yesterday.
And I actually enjoyed it. I mentioned that my husband did all the cooking last week. I find that if I pick the recipe, I’ll cook it. But if we pick something together, I somehow assume it’s his job (sorry, honey).
I made an eggplant Parmesan veggie bake last night with some salad.
It was soooo delicious and pretty easy too. I’ll be sharing the recipe tomorrow. 🙂
That’s all I got folks. Have a great Monday!
