I think I mean to start this post series a lonnnnng time ago but forgot about it. One of my favorite bloggers (that no longer blogs 🙁 ) used to do a confessions post. I loved it so much. We all have funny things we want to confess, right?
While this series is titled Confessions of a Perfectionist, these all may not have much to do with wanting things to be perfect or being totally type A (or maybe they will…). I just thought the name was cute.
1. Healthy eating has been a struggle for me lately.
I’m blaming it on being pregnant and that the only thing that has sounded good for weeks is Cheez-its, dinner rolls, and peanut butter m&ms.
This weekend was the first time I really felt like I prepped truly healthy stuff for the week.
I did some snack prep, as I realize my appetite is picking up a lot. I need better snacks to get me through the day that are not crappy snack bars or pure carbs.
2. Pinterest is driving me crazy lately.
Since getting pregnant, I have been glued to it. Sure, it has great ideas for baby stuff, but I realized it’s also planted a lot of ideas in my head about what my baby should have, what the room should look like, etc. that only came to be because of Pinterest.
I feel the need to give up Pinterest for baby-related stuff for the time being (with the exception of parenting articles). It’s just not healthy to me to get so distracted by wanting a perfect nursery when I should be focused on becoming a good mom and being excited about this new life inside me.
And on that note…
3. I’ve also gotten way too obsessed with my registry.
…and making sure I am registering for the “right” items. There is just so much baby stuff!
Also, someone bought us our crib and bedding yesterday!! But I don’t know who?? I only told my mom about my registry and she said it wasn’t her. Still trying to figure it out, but so blessed to know we have a crib!
4. I’ve stopped using a traditional purse.
Usually, I am all about carrying around a classy bag that matches my outfit, but lately all I want is something functional.
I started using this Jansport laptop bag that I used in college and it works great. It’s definitely not the prettiest bag, but when I’m carrying a water bottle, lunch, gym clothes, and work stuff – I need a lot more space than a purse offers but I don’t want to carry multiple bags. This = the solution. #noshame
5. I had been really out of the habit of doing daily Bible study/prayer time.
But I just restarted and it feels so good. I really need this time and when I don’t get it, the rest of my life is just a mess. I am doing a daily devotional out of a devotional Bible a few days a week (every day would be great, but it’s more like 3x a week, which is better than nothing!). And I just started reading this book.
Love it. A new mint green journal also helps 🙂
6. I LOVE maternity clothes.
Before I got pregnant, I think I was determined to stay in my regular clothes for as long as possible, mostly because I didn’t want to spend money on a temporary wardrobe that I’d only use probably twice in my life.
I quickly learned that was the stupidest idea ever, though. Even though I saw no change in weight for the first few weeks, as soon as I was 8 weeks and beyond, nothing fit normally and was just tight and uncomfortable. Really, why are all pants not made with a stretchy top panel? They are perfect.
7. I ate a LOT of candy last night.
8. I made my husband take out the pumpkin inards for me.
when we carved pumpkins. The smell was making me gag and I can’t stand the feeling of the squishy cold pumpkin inside!!!
They turned out pretty good though 🙂
