Whoops! Totally did not get around to actually blogging this week, although I wanted to and made several attempts!
The first week of the year was super stressful and overwhelming to me for some reason, so this last week I really dialed it down a notch and decided to just chill. I know the internet is always going to be here, so taking some time off of it doesn’t seem like such a big deal anymore. It’s so nice to just be truly present in your own life!
Anyway, I want to catch up, so grab a cup!
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that…
I had my glucose test this week for this pregnancy and it wasn’t nearly as icky and disgusting as it was the first time. I got fruit punch flavor over the nasty orange I had last time. The first time I did it, it made me feel like I was going to pass out and all light headed. This time, not so much. I was also chasing after my toddler in the waiting room the entire time, so maybe I just didn’t have time to notice 😉 Hopefully I passed! Results still coming later.
I need this pineapple camera strap. That is all.
*insert crying laughing face here* But in all seriousness, I just invested in a bunch of new camera gear for my business and I am so excited! I think being a Hawaii photographer, this strap is totally necessary, right?
I truly meant to blog some useful, value-giving posts this week (they’re in the works!) but the actual inspiration never really came to me, so I let it be. I’d rather wait to produce “good” content than rush it and have it be half-done in my eyes. But on that note, I hope to crank out some of those half-finished posts and write more than just random life updates, I promise.
I actually took time to read this week and it felt amazing. I would call myself an avid reader. I host a monthly book club with some ladies here. But… reading just kind of way fell to the wayside since before the holidays. I was not truly sitting down to enjoy any reading for a while.
I picked up Me Before You on a whim at the library this week. It’s been on my to-read list forever, and yes, I know everyone and their mom has already read this and loved it. So far it’s great and it just felt good to say no to more chores or work and sit and read. Much of nap time this week was spent reading. No regrets!
The transition for Claire to her toddler bed was kind of amazing. I fully expected it to be a disaster and it was anything but. I think part of the reason it went so well was because she was on the verge of a new/better sleep pattern anyway and we just picked the right time or she was ready or something? That’s my best guess!
Anyway, she’s been in her twin bed on the floor (with the teepee on top as seen here) for over a week and doing so well. She never gets up at night or even gets out of the bed. Everyone in the house has made comments on that she is actually sleeping better. Her old room was right by the stairs and now it’s in the corner of the house where no one really walks above or goes near, so I think she just gets a lot more peace and quiet. I am so incredibly grateful! Her naps have also been epic this week for the most part. I am one happy mama right now. I’m just trying to relish in this before we have a newborn and are probably all not sleeping!
I’ll probably share an actual post on this if other moms would find this interesting. I don’t think I have any earth-shattering advice, but considering it went so well, we must have done something right!
I’m excited for some family time this weekend. My hubs has Monday and took Tuesday off as well, so we have a four day weekend to look forward to. We’re planning on a mix of being productive on some house projects and going to the beach 🙂
I hope you have a nice weekend!
Questions for You:
- What’s going on for you this weekend? Do you have Monday off?
- What would you tell me if we were having coffee today?
