Since I guess I decided blogging was for the birds this week, let’s catch up on a coffee date!
If we were having coffee (or tea or lemonade) today, I’d tell you…
My “return” from hiatus from blogging kind of hasn’t happened yet. I think my unplugged July truly reset me. I don’t have the desire to be on social media much anymore. I realized how valuable my time is recently, especially with a toddler to keep me preoccupied all day. If I have a free second, it’s most likely spent cleaning, not on Facebook anymore. I’m so happy about that!
But it wasn’t my intention to come back to blogging halfheartedly. Either way, I’m much happier now and think I’m just going to readjust my expectations when it comes to blogging, which means not reading blogs daily like I used to or even making a goal to blog a certain number of times of week. I want to be here for sure, but it all comes in seasons for me and I guess this will just be a lesser one.
The past month was kind of rough for Claire. Transitioning into our new home just didn’t go well for her. This is also the main reason I didn’t fully return to blogging, because dealing with Claire was most important in this huge transition and I didn’t have nap times to blog anymore!
I don’t think it was the home itself but the fact that we moved in, had total chaos of unpacking for about two weeks, then had a visitor, and then my sister-in-law moved in. We were just go-go-go for about five weeks straight. This week has truly been the first week I’ve felt some sort of “normal.” So in that month time, she rarely napped and even started having some nighttime wake ups again. She just started napping again this week.
And let me tell you – a toddler who doesn’t nap is the worst! Not only was I getting no time during the day to catch up on things like cleaning or blogging (hello!), but when she was awake, she was cranky almost the whole day long. So not fun! I see progress though and think things are on the upward swing for her, I hope! Naps have been back and we’re working on a schedule.
I’m obsessed with these wings from the Global Angel Project by Colette Miller.
If you check out her Instagram, this artist paints these wings all over the world. There just happens to be some on Oahu. I had to visit here and take a picture when we were at the North Shore the other day.
I’ve been reading again and I love it. Specifically, trashy British mystery novels. I found this series when I lived in Texas called Agatha Raisin by M.C. Beaton. They are so silly, far fetched and just generally hilarious. The library near me has a ton of them, so I’m hooked again. They’re quick reads that provide a fun escape and I can actually get through one of these books in a few days or a week.
I’m taking the weekend off social media. Like I said earlier, the social media fast just really stuck with me. It just seems so much less important and I feel less connected there, unless I really know people. It’s hard because I know blogging relies on social media so much and is social media, so I feel a little counter-intuitive saying that social media seems silly but I’m still blogging. Overall, I think I’ve just grown up a little and seen it for what it is and realized I’m in a different season of life (motherhood) where social media has less of a place and influence.
I’m looking forward to an unplugged weekend with my family. I’m hoping to actually catch up on reading some blogs (sorry I’ve been so absent, friends!) and planning out content in advance so this place isn’t a ghost town 😉 Have a good one!
