Boy, this was not really my week. I’m so glad it’s Friday and about to be the weekend so I can move on!
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you…
…that Claire had a really hard week. She was not sleeping well at all. Tuesday night she had a high fever and actually slept in my bed some of the night, which never happens these days.
I’m not sure if the fever was teething related or something else, but she was NOT a happy camper for a while. She is a doing better as of the past two days, though, after lots of Tylenol and cuddles.
…that speaking of camping, we are going camping this weekend in the local state park with some of my husband’s co-workers. The last time we camped, Claire was only 2 months old. I’m excited to get out in nature and just unplug this weekend.
…that it felt good to have gotten my thoughts out about my blog reader survey. I was honestly really hurt by a lot the comments. I know I asked for feedback, but I didn’t ask to be put down or attacked. I felt like people used it as an opportunity to do that, which is not cool. I do think it helped me re-focus on why I am blogging in the first place – and it is not for those kinds of people.
The one thing I did learn from it that I’m grateful for is that I was stifling my own voice here, not blogging about the “real” stuff enough just because I didn’t really know how in this season of life. A lot of times, I feel like my “every day life” posts are so unimportant. I also look at blogs a lot of the time and see great evergreen content and want that for my blog, but realize that that’s more of what I want to be a “successful blogger,” but not what’s going to keep readers truly interested. Finding the balance of both types of content is hard, but I’m happy to be putting more of myself “out there” with posts like this.
…that I’m becoming obsessed with Periscope. I’ve mentioned it a few times on the bottom of some posts lately. I’m not trying to sound all promotion-y, but I do want to get the word out about what I’m doing on there. I know it’s just another social media app, but it’s SO much better than Snap Chat (which I kind of hate and don’t really use).
Yesterday’s scope on my fears about Periscope
I’ve been watching Ashley, Emily, Brittany, and Sara’s scopes on everyday life, motherhood, and fitness. It’s so much fun to see someone you follow on video, especially if you can catch it live. Then you can comment and ask questions in real time. I feel like it’s adding a whole new level of getting connected that other social media platforms lack. I would highly recommend trying it out! I’ll be scoping a real live coffee date this morning too.
…that the coffee date graphic above is not a stock photo, but that I actually drank that wonderful creamy latte in Brooklyn, New York this past summer. But I do love a good stock photo (I get a lot of mine for free from here). And now I really miss the North East.
…that this pic was a big hit for #ThrowbackThursday yesterday.
I’ve been wanting to post one of my baby photos as a comparison to Claire for a while. I personally think we are twins and she looks JUST like me. I see that many of you agree! Thoughts?
…that I need a new phone desperately. Like yesterday. I have a Galaxy S3. I see you can pre-order the S7 now. So yeah. ANCIENT in cell phone terms. I absolutely cannot justify paying almost $600 for a phone that will just be obsolete again in a year or two, though. I’m looking into switching to Cricket because they are way cheaper for plans and offer legit Samsung phones for $30 right now.
Have a lovely weekend!
