Thank you guys soooo much for all the wonderful birthday wishes for Claire last week!
Between gifts people gave us in person, gifts our family mailed us, cards, texts, and love on here and Facebook – we were all feeling the love! Claire can’t read yet, but I gave her lots of kisses so I think she got the hint and is more than enjoying all her new toys 😉
On Friday (her actual birthday), I had a small party for her at a park with some of my MOPs friends. I am so thankful we got to have a little party! When we first moved to Texas I thought we wouldn’t have a party or do much of anything for her since we moved here knowing no one. So being able to have that after all was really sweet.
We played at the park for about an hour, then had cake, and Claire “opened” her gifts out in the grass.
I told everyone no gifts (seriously), but people were so generous and got her some really nice things. Between family at my in-laws and friends at her park party, Claire got:
- Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Activity Zoo – very cute
- VTec 2-in-1 Learn & Zoom Motorbike –> she is obsessed with this thing!
- Quite a few books & outfits
- Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes “MP3 player”
- Wooden Block Train Set
- Fisher Price Princess Mommy Chime Doll (from me, I couldn’t resist, she also REALLY likes this)
- A beach bag & sunglasses
- VTec Touch & Teach Elephant
- Some stuffed animals
- Her first two sets of earrings, thanks to my dad! Too cute
I thought I would list all the things she got not to brag, but because she actually loves all the toys she got. She was in a serious phase of not playing with any of her toys at all, so I’m really grateful she got some things that peak her interest right now (with the exception of the beach bag/sunglasses/earrings lol) and in case any other mamas or first-birthday goers want toy or gift ideas.
I’m beyond grateful for a slew of new toys she’s interested in and how generous everyone was for her birthday. It really means a lot, especially since I was not expecting anything.
Saturday, we all went out to attempt her first birthday photo shoot. It was looking like rain and I had already cancelled a shoot that morning due to weather. Claire was not in the best mood at all (teething hard core & she ended up getting sick the next day), but I snagged a few pretty cute shots before it was major meltdown time.
I’m still a little like, wow, I can’t believe I have a one year old. She’s starting to look so grown up and not like a baby! But I’m also really loving this stage. My husband’s exact words about her being one are, “I love that she’s one! She’s so much better now!” And I agree. Not that there’s anything wrong with newborns. It’s just so fun to interact with her and really start communicating.
I’ll do an “official” and last monthly update for her in the coming week to give you a better idea of what she’s been up to 🙂
