And in case you missed those posts, I have decided to officially pursue a combined business of blog design and photography. You can find Bee Sweet Photo + Design here.
I’m not too thrilled about the long URL of beesweetphotoanddesign.com but beesweetphoto.com was taken (which is a super cute site, btw!). I’m pretty pleased with the design and look of it so far.
I’m actually using the same base theme on there as I do on here. I just made a bunch of changes. It’s definitely been fun to design a new site for the past few weeks.
I thought of making these two ventures separate and offering blog design via here and photography on its own website since the two types of clients I will have will likely never be interested in both services I offer. However, I decided that anything business related really needed its own space.
I start this blog to blog, not to sell anything to anyone. I definitely don’t want to drive my awesome reader base away because I start talking business or become “selly” (which I hope to never do, anyway). But I just know that people didn’t start reading my blog because I became a photographer or started offering blog design. So that’s not where my blog is going to go.
I hope you guys appreciate the separation of the two. Nothing on Freeing Imperfections is going to change. Sure, I will talk about photo stuff and what I’m doing from time to time, but I’ll be showcasing my work only on Bee Sweet. If that’s your thing, you can subscribe to Bee Sweet’s blog page, or just pop on over once in a while to see what I’m working on.
So, speaking of that – here’s some of my favorites from some recent shoots. I shot a friend’s baby shower and did a family mini session over last weekend.
My favorite from the baby shower. It was a dino themed baby shower and my friend Heather was very excited about some dino onesies 🙂
For the family photo shoot, my friend’s daughter Lilly – is she not the most precious?! I’m in love with her long curly hair.
This one just melts my heart too.
I’m so thankful to have worked with some great people already. I am starting to feel more and more comfortable behind the camera and could edit photos ALL day long. This was definitely a good decision for me to get my creative juices flowing and do something for myself.
On a different note, Emily made a great comment the other day about how it’s rather interesting timing that I posted “Is Everyone ‘Doing Something’ But Me?” and now I’m launching this business and “doing something.”
I will say that I still consider myself a SAHM 100%. While I will be making money from this side gig, it’s not something I’m pursuing for the money. I still consider it a hobby. In regards to it possibly seeming random for me to start this business, the works for offering blog design has been in my head for at least two years. And the photography thing is a newer passion of mine, but also something that I thought of offering from time to time since I know a lot of people just like me who do photography.
I think at the time I wrote that post, I was getting inundated daily or weekly with invites to join this group or sell this thing with promises of “making it big.” And I realized that that is something I was getting sucked into but totally didn’t want or need.
I guess I consider Bee Sweet less of some way to define myself, make money, or “do something,” but more of something that came so naturally because I’m passionate about it and more of a hobby than anything. I can say with 100% certainty that I LOVE this business already. I feel so natural behind the camera and working with people during photo shoots. I love designing blogs and collaborating with other people to make something.
So maybe that sounds like a cop out. I think when I wrote that post, I was deep down wanting “something else,” but felt like all the something else’s that were coming my way didn’t fit my personality or match my passions. I’m glad to have found a “doing something” that fits me, however it works out.
Anyway – if you made it to the end of this post, I owe you a coffee refill 😉 Thanks for all the kind comments about this side venture already. I feel so supported and really appreciate it! You guys are the best!
This weekend I’ll be doing Claire’s one year shoot because she is one TOMORROW! Stay tuned for a fun birthday post about her tomorrow.
