Coming at ya real late here your time, but it’s still the morning here in Hawaii. It’s been three weeks and I am still very much not used to the time difference. I hope one day soon I stop feeling like I am “behind.” It’s very odd seeing people post Instagrams of their lunch when I have yet to drink my coffee yet, though 😉
Yesterday we took a little day off and went to explore the North Shore of Oahu, which we hadn’t been to yet. I shared on Instagram, but if you missed it, we put an offer on two homes last week. One of the sellers is having some kind of family emergency and still hasn’t gotten back to us. The second home chose another offer and had about four offers on it I think. So we were a little disappointed hearing that news yesterday, so a relax and not-think-about-homes day was in order.
We started by driving up the eastern coast of the island, which is so far the most beautiful drive we’ve had yet. We stopped at a “famous” spot for food trucks, one of them being Giovanni’s Shrimp. We got some shrimp and I got an iced coffee. Neither were that good, though, so no pictures necessary 😉
There were a lot of fruit stands on the side of the road so we stopped and got a bag of fresh-cut fruit.
Seriously some of the best fruit I’ve ever had!
Then we made our way to Laniakea beach. The waves were much bigger here so it was a little harder to hang out in the ocean without getting knocked over, but it was not crowded and was super gorgeous.
I have never really been a beach person (mostly because I always lived in landlocked states), but there were parts of being on this beach yesterday that made me just stop in awe and be like I have no idea how I live here, but I love this place. I think the beach is truly becoming my happy place. I love the peace I feel here.
I think C feels the same way too.
I have never seen a happier beach baby! I am so happy she loves being in the ocean. Yesterday was the first day we really let her play in the sand. While she got sand everywhere she was having a blast.
After we were done at the beach, we wanted to get some dinner before heading home. We went to Haleiwa, which was such a cute town! I definitely want to go back. They had some really cute shops.
I ended up buying a really ti dye cute beach cover up/dress and a pineapple print on burlap (which I’ll probably share later on Insta). Adorable!
We got Pizza Bob’s for dinner. I have seen very few pizza places around. I guess hot filling pizza isn’t exactly a great island staple, so it’s hard to come by. We were so in the mood for some since we hadn’t eaten any pizza since we moved here.
It was SO good! They also gave you the option of just ordering a 1/4 of any pizza for only $5 on Thursday nights. So that’s what we did. Two slices each is all we needed and it was cheap.
Then we went and got some ice cream. I got coconut macadamia nut with chocolate chips. Thankfully chocolate and coconut is super popular here, which is my absolute favorite.
Yesterday was one of the best days we’ve had here yet. It was so nice experiencing another part of the island and one that was slightly less touristy than Waikiki. While Waikiki is beautiful, I definitely think the North Shore is going to be my go-to to bring our visitors.
I hope you guys have a great weekend! We are looking at homes as much as we can over the weekend. Thanks for all the well wishes on the house hunt.
