I hope you are home safe today if you’re being hit by this snow storm! My work closed today so I am going to enjoy a nice day off. I plan to workout, bake something, do a hypnobabies course study, & some blog prep 🙂
I’ve always told myself I would do a Day in the Life post but always forget to take pictures. Since so many of these posts are floating around & they’re always my favorite, I finally managed to do one. This is from yesterday.
3:45-5:30 am – toss and turn in bed, I am totally not sleeping well these days
6:00 am – alarm goes off, do not get up as I felt like I was up all night! Sleep for another 10 minutes
6:10 am – finally get up, put on my robe, open all the blinds in the house, situate Beans on the couch
This is our ritual every morning. He has to be all tucked in with blankets on the couch or he whines incessantly until he is covered up. Spoiled much?
I continue getting ready by washing my face (showered the night before to save time), getting dressed, & putting on makeup
6:45 am – head into the kitchen, flip my coffee pot on (prepped the night before – glorious!), and make breakfast. Then I head to the couch with Beans to eat my breakfast and drink my coffee while I read my daily devotional. This is my favorite time of day!
I had a piece of Ezekiel raisin bread with peanut butter & a banana.
7:00 am – start heading out. I start the car, put my purse/lunch in the car, take out the trash/recycle while the car warms up & then leave.
7:10-7:30 am – drive to work, commute seems shorter than usual today
7:35 am – 8:00 am – get my day started while no one else is in the office, check my email, put my lunch in the fridge, hang up my coat, etc.
8:00 am – 12:00 pm – spend the day working at the front desk.
I work as an administrative manager at a staffing agency that places people for temp jobs. I don’t typically sit at the front desk, but one of my other admins is out this week for vacation, so I am filling in for her.
I spend the morning printing paperwork that the candidates need to fill out to get registered with us before they can go to work.
I make up these packets of paperwork for each appointment of the day. I turn on the phones and answer calls. I process I9s and tax paperwork. When people are done filling out the paperwork, I bring it back to the sales people interviewing them.
I also stop and have a snack at about 10:30. I have some coconut green tea & try to eat a bran muffin from Trader Joe’s (sorry but totally gross!), and opt for a peanut butter balance bar instead.
12:00 1:00 pm – lunch break. I start prepping this blog post at my desk while I eat lunch.
I have an exciting ham, turkey & cheese sandwich with 2 clementines and some seltzer water.
This is a typical lunch break for me. Sometimes I work out at the gym here or run an errand, but a lot of my blog posts are written on my break now. It frees up my evenings and I’m usually not in the mood to write a post at night anyway.
1:00-2:00 pm – continue to cover the front desk
2:00 – 4:10 pm – finish the day at my own desk while another admin I work with covers the front desk. I enter some candidate paperwork into our online system, process some payroll adjustments, complete some reports in Excel, and wrap up my day.
4:15-4:40 pm – drive home. I left a little earlier than usual because of the impending weather.
I take the trash cans in, put my lunch box away, do some dishes, and change into comfy clothes
5:00 pm – head to my fancy workout studio for some PiYo
I tried the Strength Intervals video for the first time. Definitely a little more impact than a 7 month pregnant lady wants, but it was overall a good workout.
Working out after work is pretty normal for me these days, unless I happen to do it on my lunch break.
5:45 pm – have dinner
I’m so fancy, right? Hubby isn’t here this week, so I opted for a “lazy pregnant lady dinner” of a Trader Joe’s cheese pizza & some carrots with light ranch. #NoShame
Beans was whining at me the entire time I ate, so we play some fetch & tug of war until he gets bored.
6:00 pm – I randomly feel inspired to experiment in the kitchen to make a recipe for the blog, so I head in there and mess around.
Recipe turns out well, so look for that later this week 🙂
6:30-8:00 pm – edit food photos from recipe above, write post, and schedule it. Do some other blog prep stuff by rearranging my scheduled posts & working on some other posts for the week. This is not usual for me, but I didn’t have work the next day, so I wasn’t too worried about prepping like usual.
8:00 pm – listen to my Hypnobabies CD. This is (becoming) a daily thing for me now and will be until I deliver Baby Bee. The tracks are 30 minutes long and I feel amazing afterward.
8:30 pm – hardly able to get up as I am so relaxed from Hypnobabies (typical). I chill on the couch and read with Beans until I crawl into bed & read some before passing out.
And that was my day!
