I’m feeling inspired to try to throw more random life posts on here now that I’ve decided to stick with blogging. I originally just kind of ditched these posts because I either never had pictures for them or just felt too busy to keep up. I have really felt the need to share my life lately though, so here’s what I did this weekend.
This is the first weekend it finally really felt “Christmasy” to me. It’s been so hot here still and no part of this time of year feels like it’s Christmas yet. But the decorations have been up for a while and I just felt more festive so that was nice.
Here’s C before we took her to see Santa on Sunday. I look at her lately and am just like “yup, my baby is gone.” 🙁 She looks so grown up to me!
Had a Minor Computer Emergency
Friday morning, I spilled literally less than a tablespoon of water on my laptop keyboard and it made the whole computer not work. I freaked out not because I can’t live without my computer but because I still had a lot of photo editing to do for people’s Christmas cards. I needed to get stuff back quickly and was planning on using the whole weekend to catch up.
I wiped it up right away and turned it upside down. My husband suggested I put it in a room by itself with our dehumidifier for a day and see if it would turn on later. It worked! It was the equivalent of putting a cell phone in rice, I think. It was so crazy humid here Friday from a lot of rain, so I think that made it short out instantly. I am so so so glad it was able to work again and didn’t even need repair. Seriously scary! And my laptop is only about a year and half old, so it would have been a huge bummer had something really happened to it. Definitely keeping NO drinks near it any longer!
Took Claire to See Santa
I wasn’t 100% sure if I really wanted to do this this year. We didn’t last year because she was only 8 months old and I was sure she would freak out. Anyway, I thought I wanted to take her but the day I already planned to go, she was having a very emotional, cry-at-everything day so I didn’t know if it would be a good mix.
She actually seemed really interested in him for the first time. We’d seen several Santas at different malls recently and always seemed weirded out, but not this time.
She even seemed like she wanted to walk up to him, but her stranger anxiety is pretty strong right now so she did freak out trying to get her to sit with him by herself. Me and my sister-in-law sat with her instead and she didn’t have a total fit.
I think it turned out pretty cute, even though C is a little worried looking. At least she’s not crying! And we got to wear leis! Only in Hawaii haha.
Finally Got Somewhat Organized
I’ve been feeling a little all over the place the past few weeks. Claire had hand foot and mouth a few weeks back (which is super awful!) and ever since then it was just hard to get on top of life. Add to it that every weekend I’ve been pretty busy with photo sessions for the Christmas season, it’s just been a lot!
I didn’t have any sessions this weekend, so I really caught up on stuff. The house is all clean (er, as clean as it’s gonna get with a toddler in the house!), I wrapped some presents, caught up on editing, did some shopping, and started a new book.
I made this wooden sign and got these frames all at Ross to start a gallery wall for our entry way soon. My husband is building us an entryway table that I’m really excited about and these will go above it eventually. I’m excited to hopefully soon showcase some rooms in our home that are nearly completion in terms of decorating.
And sidenote: I am doing some tweaking to the blog right now, if you’re all wuuttt to my layout changes. Since deciding to stick with it, I am trying to better organize my content and find a look that works for me (and I’m still not entirely sure what that ever is!). Stayed tuned on Wednesday for a post outlining my expectations for the blog going forward.
I hope you guys had a good weekend & have started your week off right!
