Today is a strength training/cardio day for me. I’m loving the new strength routine (more on that later), but today I was really itching to do something different for cardio. Since Monday and Tuesday are both run days, I wanted to switch it up since running is a little monotonous these days on the treadmill. I put together this quick but varying cardio workout.
Note: If your elliptical has a crossramp, set it to 10 (mine doesn’t have that setting). The bike part is a little vague because my gym’s bike only has preset courses. If yours doesn’t, follow the guidelines of the elliptical workout.
This little sweat sesh (I seriously love that phrase) left my legs feeling super worked and tight. This is definitely a great workout to strengthen your legs for running on off days.
After that, I was ready for a filling lunch. I had another staple of mine, a ham and apple panini. While there’s nothing particularly special about this sandwich, making it with high quality ingredients is what makes it so stellar to me. I use Grey Poupon mustard and my favorite ham by Applegate Farms. So fresh and good!
To make the panini, I get a little creative 😉 I don’t have a panini press (yet…), so instead I use a pan with 3 cans on top to “press” my sandwich down. I don’t get the pretty grill lines like a real press, but it still works really well.
And – ta-da! I have a beautiful warm sandwich to enjoy. I always serve the remaining apple on the side too.
And after lunch, I may have snuck in a few of these guys…
Uh-oh! The hubs came home with these and some Samoas yesterday night. Dangerous! Not sure if I can control my sweet tooth today 😉 Have a happy afternoon!
- Question for you: What’s your favorite type of hot sandwich? I’m all into soup and sandwiches lately, but I need some fresh ideas!
